Iris.ai is on a mission to build the world's first AI researcher, a system that will be an invaluable team member in every research team across academia, industry and NGO's. We are an impact driven for-profit company. Our initial product offering is a suite of tools to semi-automate the academic literature reviews, and these tools are being delivered at University Libraries across the Nordics. Our second product suite is a set of tools for researchers in the chemical industry. Our team is a mishmash of impact driven weirdos with a fundamental desire to do really cool things that will leave the world better than we found it.

Our software tool provides predicted properties of (bio) chemicals based on data-driven algorithms and quantum chemistry, which helps to reduce the number of experiments in R&D. Every (bio)chemical process or product needs physico-chemical properties (e.g. solubility, density) data to simulate unit operations and flowsheets of chemical manufacturing processes. Also, the formulation of products such as more sustainable solvents or more efficient materials need property calculations for designing these products. Scientists and engineers at biotech companies usually fail to develop and simulate new processes and products because: (I) the experimental data for specific molecules are not available, (II) no physical property models have been developed for the desired compounds which give satisfiable predictions, (III) measurements are too time- and material-consuming to perform. MQS has developed a software which provides novel property prediction models based on machine learning and quantum chemistry (Figure 1), in which the input from experiments can be reduced or is negligible. Therefore the number of experiments, material, labour and time are saved which translates to reducing R&D costs in a 407 billion $ industry [1,2,3]. MULGEO box-chair is made of a multilayer, glued cardboard called Kraftliner. Kraftliner is a ‘virgin’ and pure paper which - made with the highest technologies – allows the material to bear up to 350 kilograms. This is one of the most durable and sturdy paper types out there and worth to mention: it is fully recyclable. This material is FSC-approved, and it ensures that our suppliers are responsible for the trees circularly replanted in Sweden. There is a myth that paper made from recycled fibre is a more responsible choice than paper made from fresh fibre. The fact is, that without fresh wood from sustainably managed forests, the world would eventually run out of paper. Why? Because after several uses, recycled fibers get too short and worn out and have to be replaced with fresh ones. The good news is that the fresh fibre we use is truly sustainable. The production of MULGEO furniture is a process without any CO2-emissions and the only waste materials that occur are pieces of die-cuts, which are recycled after production. Handles for example are recycled in creating new designs. Our whole supply chain is based in Europe - we design in Denmark, source in Sweden and produce in Europe.
