Kitchenswaps is an online marketplace for commercial kitchen space, matching kitchen owners with food businesses. High rental and operating costs and low profit margins for commercial kitchen owners (think restaurants, cafe's, you name it!) has resulted in a rise in bankruptcies, further compounded by the pandemic. At the same time, there is a large shortage of commercial kitchens, limiting food entrepreneurs to start/expand their business, preventing them from vital development. Our 'win-win' circular solution optimizes unused kitchen spaces by renting it out to businesses in need of flexible and affordable licenced kitchens. This maximizes revenue for kitchen owners and minimizes barriers to entry through easier access for food businesses. Chromologics is a Danish biotech spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark. We have developed a fungal biotech platform for the production of novel, natural colorants. Our proprietary fermentation process allows us to be first movers to introduce lab-grown food colorants to the market. Our production is sustainable, scalable and cost-competitive. Unlike other existing natural colors, our colorants are not extracted from high value raw materials like fruit and vegetables, but produced by our wild type cell factory. Our software tool provides predicted properties of (bio) chemicals based on data-driven algorithms and quantum chemistry, which helps to reduce the number of experiments in R&D. Every (bio)chemical process or product needs physico-chemical properties (e.g. solubility, density) data to simulate unit operations and flowsheets of chemical manufacturing processes. Also, the formulation of products such as more sustainable solvents or more efficient materials need property calculations for designing these products. Scientists and engineers at biotech companies usually fail to develop and simulate new processes and products because: (I) the experimental data for specific molecules are not available, (II) no physical property models have been developed for the desired compounds which give satisfiable predictions, (III) measurements are too time- and material-consuming to perform. MQS has developed a software which provides novel property prediction models based on machine learning and quantum chemistry (Figure 1), in which the input from experiments can be reduced or is negligible. Today, only 1 in 4 parents to deaf children in high-income countries manage to learn sign language. In low-income countries, it is believed to be less than 1 in 10. Families with individuals that benefit from sign-assisted communication face the same challenge. These include the parents to children with Down Syndrome, severe autism or Cerebral palsy. The How An international learning platform for sign languages and sign-assisted communication. The SignLab learning platform is fully digital and can incorporate new languages within weeks. The user only needs access to a smartphone or a computer. The platform makes it fun and easy to learn through gamification and timed encouragement. To ensure that the user gets the most out of every learning session, our review functionality incorporates an AI that knows what signs you are about to forget. The AI then designs a learning session that is tailored to the individual user’s need. Our curriculum is designed in cooperation with sign language teachers in each language. The platform launched in open beta in Norway November 2018. Feedback from parents and sign language teachers gave it a NPS of +64. The platform saw exponential growth with an average growth rate of 276% each month for the first three months (Nov-Feb). This growth all came from word of mouth, $0 spent on marketing. Exclusion from communication have a significant impact on everyday life, causing feelings of loneliness, isolation, and frustration.
