TUMling

TUMling is a groundbreaking IT solution, created to revolutionize the documentation process in daycare facilities. With an advanced integration of artificial intelligence and computer vision, TUMling automates and simplifies the collection and analysis of data from daily activities. This frees up educators' time from extensive paperwork, allowing them to immerse themselves in direct interaction with the children, thus improving the working environment, enhancing the quality of childcare. A significant pain point in the industry is the burden of documentation, which often feels meaningless and too complex, as well as it stands in the way of educators' core tasks. This issue has led to high stress, sick leave, and industry exodus, which harms both the professionals and the children they care for. TUMling directly addresses this by transforming the documentation process into a quick and meaningful task, taking as little as 30 seconds per day. Competitors primarily focus on retrospective documentation, where educators must set aside time to reflect over long periods. TUMling, on the other hand, integrates documentation into daily work, actively and effectively utilizing photo documentation, instead of the current practice where thousands of photos are rarely fully utilized. The economic advantage is clear: TUMling could potentially save over 144 million Danish kroner annually with nationwide implementation, based on a weekly time saving of one hour per preschool classroom. With 260,000 children in Danish daycare facilities, and competitors' prices of about 250 kroner per child per year, TUMling faces a Danish market of 65 million kroner annually. TUMling was founded in the fall of 2023 by me, Stefan Steinmejer. I am a former bachelor-educated preschool teacher, who has now further educated myself and will complete a MSc in Information Technology, Specializing in ICT, Learning and Organizational Change, in the summer of '24. I also have two children who attend a private preschool institution, where I have served on the board for 2 years. The foundation of TUMling is thus a combination of professional insight, technological innovation, board experience, and a problem that strikes right into both my educator heart and my father heart. With a prototype developed in 2023, TUMling is now in the software development phase, and is actively seeking partners who can fully program the solution. The plan is to enter agreements with the private market in 2024 and launch sales in 2025. In the longer term, the goal is to expand to the public and international markets. TUMling represents a visionary approach to a persistent problem in the daycare sector, offering a solution that not only saves time and money but also improves the work environment for the preschool teachers, but more importantly the quality of care for the children in our society.

Vandre

Vandre is a young Norwegian tech company with the ambition to impact the environmental situation by making textile brands succeed in reducing their footprint by making clothes and garments live longer. The world’s garbage piles are growing. In 2021, 40.000 tons of used fashion clothes ended up in the Atacama desert in Chile as their final destination. This is just one example of how the textile industry is not even close to being sustainable. The sports and textile industries face strict requirements and a major upheaval, when the EU is planning to introduce sustainability reporting and requirements to offer consumers repair of products in 2025. Our platform connects brands in the industry with certified repair centres and facilitates a seamless user journey with logistics and payment options. The platform is also a sought-after tool at repair centres, as it helps to make their daily operations more efficient. We have currently launched in Norway, and plan to expand to the rest of the Nordics and beyond in the future. Our HQ is in a co-working space office in downtown Oslo – a two-minute walk from Nationaltheatret, where we share office with a small PE fund, and have lunch break together with. We also have employees in other cities working remotely. As a small team, some of us are quite often on the go and strive to stick to our digital workplace practices as much as possible. This enables the whole team to work quite flexibly when needed, together with some well-appreciated face time at the office as often as possible. Today the team is communicating openly using Slack and ClickUp to organise daily work and product development. There you will feel the motivating and active vibe from the other team members, our CEO Henriette, and our always-on-the-go working Chairman and brand relationship manager Simen. We are still a small team, but team spirit we have and everyone is highly motivated to make a difference in the world and help grow Vandre to reach it's full potential. Our culture is built on trust, freedom and humour. As most team members work from home most of the time, we always strive to be available during the working hours, and prioritise weekly meetings to stimulate the team spirit being a partly remote team. In addition we believe in a high level of freedom for each colleague to find their own optimal w/l balance. Prioritising a run before lunch or picking up kids in the afternoon is all up to the individual colleague. You know best what works for you. SoGreen

Girls' education is an incredibly powerful climate solution due to its stong relationship with child marriage prevention and subsequent delayed motherhood; impacting population growth and lowering consumption-based emissions. 130 million girls in the world's poorest and most climate-vulnerable communities are effectively excluded from education due to poverty. Humanitarian organizations in low-income countries constantly struggle to fundraise and are never able to fully meet the needs of the most marginalized. SoGreen is a startup with a big heart and an even bigger ambition: A world where all girls realise their right to education and climate justice is placed at the heart of all climate action. In collaboration with leading scientists at renowned European research institutions in the field of demography and climate science,* SoGreen has developed a methodology to quantify the climate impact of girls' education in tonnes CO2-equivalent avoided. This allows for the generation of carbon credits (1 ton = 1 carbon credit) which can be sold on the international carbon market to channel climate finance to girls' education. In partnership with FAWEZA, a leading pan-African NGO focusing on girls' education, SoGreen's pilot project is being implemented in Zambia. Over the coming 5 years, the project will ensure a full secondary education for 180 marginalized girls. All carbon credits generated by the project have been sold ex ante to over 30 companies that have ambitious sustainability strategies, which allow for the use of carbon credits in addition to reducing their own emissions. SoGreen aims to be the provider of the worlds most popular carbon credits within the next 5 years; resulting in a powerful reduction in emissions and a massive increase in educational attainment - a basic human right. *International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany, and The Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital (WIC) in Austria.
