Ampa Medical is a health-tech start-up, dedicated to radically improve the quality of life for people living with an ileostomy (stoma from small intestine). Today a stoma bag is the only available solution for people with ileostomy. But living with a bag of stool attached to your stomach 24/7 comes with a lot of clinical complications and social stigma, decreasing quality of life for the many people living with an ileostomy. Ampa Medical is determined to change this.

REGULATING MODERN TECHNOLOGY We develop 'lifestyle systems’ and the market's first AI-integrated hybrid watch that is designed to counter information overload. Our technology interprets and disperses information to only notify of what is subjectively relevant and important to the user. Our mission is to eradicate the abuse of digital communication to create a socially sustainable cyber life. The market need is indicated by the fact that people receive an average of 64 notifications a day and only a fraction are relevant to the user. The ordinary functionality is static and delivers information regardless of the user's wishes and needs at any given moment, which impairs focus and causes stress. The notifications do not differ from one another regardless of severity and they are all based on sources instead of topics and people. We circumvent this inconvenience and offer a solution that ensures that the user never has to be distracted in vain. Our solution is aimed at high-performing, social, and fashion-conscious men and women mainly in the ages 30-50, who highly benefit from saving time, remaining focused, and reducing screen-time and stress in everyday life. THE FUTURE OF SMART PRODUCTS We solve the problem with a watch that works as a digital ‘gatekeeper’ against irrelevant information rather than an extension to the mobile phone like regular smartwatches. The dynamic functions are based on the user's hierarchical values and micro-activities, which together with AI filtering and machine learning enable customized technology and a completely new type of smart functionality. ★ STARTUP OF THE YEAR-FINALIST┃288 PRE-ORDERS IN 72 HOURS ★ The project has been developed for three years through a global network with competence from companies such as Fossil, Citizen, Hugo Boss, and Intel, and we have senior board members with experience managing 200MSEK-2BSEK companies. We develop our own app and watch movements with two years of smart battery life, and the development of the next generation has also begun which will be a body-heat-driven hybrid that enables life-long battery life. Our service enables a direct channel between citizens and the scientific community. Improving the standing and role of academics and universities in the public discussion is central to our mission. In the current media and public discussion environment, finding clear and reliable information on current affairs has become increasingly difficult. Public discussion often takes place in opinion-heavy bubbles and can be dominated by disinformation as scientific voices have been isolated from the discussion. These issues have blended into an intensifying deterioration of public discussion and even a threat to the democratic process. Ample’s service, in a nutshell, is to offer a new communication ecosystem that brings researchers to discuss with the public on news media sites. It has been designed to work on the news media's own website, and extends from there to various social media channels. For news media, the service continues the life cycle of news articles, offering readers high-quality content, but in a conversational format. Ample has a strong social angle, and our design focus has been on improving the quality of public discussion, as well as reducing the effects of disinformation, but also strengthening the ecosystem around journalistic content.

Bantaba is a digital matchmaking platform connecting African startups with professionals and investors in the African community living abroad (the “diaspora”). Despite an entrepreneurship rate of 22%, more than 70% of startups in Africa lack access to talent and capital. This is the problem we are solving.
