Northvolt

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely. To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history. Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. Wirba

Manually finding, auditing and communicating with hundreds of niche suppliers and subcontractors in and before construction projects is both time-consuming and costly. Asymmetrical information, insufficient data, and unclear instructions lead to budget overruns and prolonged projects. The industry estimates the total cost of these communication inefficiencies at 60 BSEK per year. Wirba’s platform is a digital tool for automatic subcontractor management that streamlines the entire procurement process - from multiple requests to signed agreements.

XR Tech (YAY VR)

We developed a pay-per-minute LBVR platform, enabling fully self-service VR experiences, removing all staff and save 80% of the running costs. We roll out in the isle of malls under the brand YAY VR with a 60% gross margin and 30% MoM growth. Already 43 500 minutes sold so far in 1 location. --- A complete self-service VR platform combining latest hardware, software and content to create the best VR experience. Hardware: The XR Box is a modular, secure & scalable mini-arcade. Software: Containerized system infrastructure. App, box & cloud - all prepared for global scaling and distribution. Content: Fun to play & watch - experiences worth sharing. An industry ready, multi tenant platform for all kinds of VR games and experiences. --- This is the main USPs of our solution: • Location - Our size put us in the center of the malls, displaying our offer to millions of people. • Self-service - No staff needed. Saving 83% of the running costs. • Low investment - Gives a quicker break-even and higher margin. • The community - By rolling out and run all locations our selfs we own the communication with the consumer. A big value for the gaming industry to distribute their VR experiences.

Fraxx Interactive AS

Fraxx Interactive AS er en norsk edtech startup etablert i 2019. Bedriften har i 2020 lansert direct-to-consumer plattformen Fraxx.no - et videobasert digitalt kursunivers som gjør det mulig å lære fra de mest anerkjente ekspertene innen underholdning, livsstil og sport i Norge og på sikt i resten av Skandinavia. I november 2020 lanserte de sine første kurs med noen av de beste innen sine felt: Bent Stiansen, Anders Aukland, Halvor Bakke og Fæbrik-gjengen. Fraxx ønsker å gi tilgang til kunnskapen disse ekspertene har gjennom en læringsplattform som gir engasjerende og underholdende innhold av høy kvalitet – og som er lette å lære fra. Målet til Fraxx er å gi flere mennesker tilgang og fleksibiliteten til å lære akkurat hvor og når det passer dem. I en hektisk hverdag blir det enda viktigere å ta vare på og utvikle egne interesser, og dette ønsker Fraxx å bidra med.

BRØG

In BRØG we are developing a beautiful pour over coffee machine, where the user can control several variables in order to make their preferred cup of coffee. Our vision is to give the user the opportunity to brew the perfect cup of coffee while keeping the machine aesthetically beautiful. Besides that, we want to create an app where our customers can share, download and rate brews and thereby create a community similar to Vivino but for coffee lovers. Our customer segments consist primarily of coffee and design enthusiasts. The Scandinavian countries are the most coffee drinking nations worldwide, with a market potential of 800.000 sales - especially because black pour over coffee is the preferred brewing method. Furthermore, the design often matters a lot when Scandinavians buy new interior equipment and we plan on branding BRØG with that in focus. In order to brew a great cup of pour over coffee with the pour over method, you need to practice a lot to do it perfectly. This is where our machine comes into the picture. When using our machine, the user will be able to adjust all the crucial variables and thereby recreate their favorite cup of coffee every time. Besides that, our machine distributes the water correctly over the beans using our newly patented-pending water distributor. This will together with the right temperature, waterflow, bloom time and bloom water ensure a great cup of coffee. If the user is not an experienced barista or coffee connoisseur, they can use our app and in that find the coffee bean they are using (or a similar one) and see what settings other users have used and what the result was like. Anyone can therefore create a great cup of coffee with minimum effort or knowledge. All the components necessary to control these parameters require very little battery which, together with our battery pack, allows the user to brew a minimum of 100 cups of coffee before having to about recharging the machine. BRØG is portable and gives the user a lot of freedom which together with our design-protected design differentiates us from our competitors. The team consists of three Process and Innovation students from DTU. Our skills as a team cover the fundamental knowledge necessary to run a startup due to us having different qualities and interests. We have a great team spirit and know each other's strengths and weaknesses and help each other whenever the need arises. Two of us have been working on BRØG for the past one and a half years and are now going full time in our company, and the third partner just joined. Besides us, we have a strong team of advisors and mentors. Our advisory board consists of a business lawyer working with startups, a product developer, a business and market expert from CBS and an entrepreneur that we try to meet up with 6 times a year. Besides that, we have a mentor from a previous mentor program with years of experience as a designer within the same luxurious customer segment, who helps us create a beautiful and user-friendly product. This group of people have also helped us create a large network with contacts in all areas of expertise that we need to succeed.

Business Battlefield

Business Battlefield is a sprouting organisation consisting of volunteer students who aim to inspire, challenge and Shape the Leaders of Tomorrow. The organisation is part of the society CBS Case Competition and was founded back in 2017. Business Battlefield is an innovative leadership competition for students taking place in November. The first week of November will be one big orange party with events happening online and/or at different Copenhagen Business School locations. During this week a selected number of participants will receive training from our expert partners to prepare for the competition on the final day. During the year we also aim to host a series of inspiring talks and workshops with influential leaders for all students. The purpose of Business Battlefield is to offer students an inspiring experience and opportunity to exploit and challenge their leadership skills. The concept bridges the theoretical knowledge from academia with real-life leadership challenges preparing the participants for a career as a leader. We want Business Battlefield to be the first of its kind in challenging the contemporary characteristics of a leader. In a world where disruption, environmental issues, artificial intelligence and constant innovation are the most discussed business topics, we strive to identify the individuals that have the potential to successfully enter the world of leaders and make a change. A key part of the pitch is a video of the team behind the startup, as that is as big a part of why investors see a startup as the perfect fit. Waved

Waved is developing solutions to help restaurants, bars, hotels, and retail create a better atmosphere for their guests. Happy guests stay longer and spend more. By using IoT sensors to analyze the human-made noise, Waved automatically adjusts the music volume to a perfect level - no matter the circumstances. We make the restaurant and hospitality experience better, no more shouting to hold a conversation - the background music will always balanced. WHY WAVED? THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE The goal of restaurants, bars and other eating and drinking venues is to provide the best customer experience possible. The customer’s well-being is directly linked to the amount of money spent during their stay and the likelihood that they will return. THE IMPORTANCE OF SOUND Research has shown that a well composed sound environment has direct impact on how the guest’s overall experience and even how the taste of the food and drinks are perceived. LARGE INVESTMENTS IN SOUND EQUIPMENT Most restaurants and bars know how important the sound environment is for a good customer experience and it is common to spend thousands of dollars on sound equipment. WHAT DECIDES THE VOLUME? The volume is usually controlled manually by waiters or bartenders in-between their other duties. Lack of information and knowledge of the customers perception often lead to poor volume level decisions. THE SOLUTION IS WAVED Wall-mounted sensors are placed around the venue and listens to the sound environment. Waved’s brain is build around our self-developed algorithm. It has the ability to understand and evaluate the sound environment and is used to set the perfect sound volume in order to maximise the customer experience.

Jordisk

Jordisk ("Earthly" in Norwegian) is a start-up based in Norway that is developing a unique distribution platform for sustainable packaging to help businesses which need single-use food packaging to become environmentally friendly by embracing products which are recyclable, compostable and/or biodegradable. We are also a part of the accelerator Fauna: https://www.faunaeksperimentet.no/ There is an immediate need to replace traditional single use packaging that is normally based on fossil based plastics with more sustainable alternatives that already exist in the market. Food packaging is becoming a growing global concern, because of the large amount of waste it generates and the chemicals it contains that can be detrimental to our health. In 2014, out of the 258 million tons of municipal solid waste generated in the US, more than 63 percent was of packaging materials (for food and other purposes) and, overall, only 35 percent (89 million tons) was recycled or composted. What happens to the remaining 65 percent? We all know that landfills are frequently used and that a lot of waste is just burned which leaves a huge carbon footprint. The end of life alternative for food packaging can be significantly improved by using alternative eco-friendly materials that already exist and can be implemented in a circular model. The aim of our distribution platform is to be the natural marketplace for sellers of sustainable food packaging where they can showcase their products to potential buyers who need one time packaging. Moreover, ideal sellers would genuinely care about the environment and have a circular model in order to reduce the carbon footprint as much as possible. A typical customer would be a restaurant that offers takeaway. The food packaging industry operates in a very traditional way with one-to-one contracts and is mature enough for a disruption. With our platform, we can be the link and matchmaker between the supplier and customer. Our goal is to raise awareness in the industry and among consumers, so they can know about sustainable food packaging alternatives such as products that are made of bagasse, bamboo, mycelium, leaves, bio-laminat and plant-based plastic such as PLA. The timing is ideal, as we are currently seeing drastic changes in jurisdiction and lawmaking in Europe, single-use plastic cutlery, cotton buds, straws and stirrers will be banned by 2021 and the EU's Green Deal Strategy is to find sustainable alternatives to replace traditional fossil based plastic. We are currently doing market research in Norway in order to source and partner with producers that could be interested in our platform. The feedback we are getting so far are positive, as most new producers would like further traction in order to get much needed market share. We are actively looking for another person with the technical know-how that wants to join the team to develop this platform with us. Even though we live in an era of Instagram and Facebook where spreading awareness in a particular topic is easier than before, environmental pollution is still one of the most concerning issues in today’s world. We, as consumers, are either too busy to care about packaging, or there aren’t many sustainable options to choose from when buying a product. One of the founders, Rezowan, has a background from the travel industry, and has from many of his previous travels seen the growing amount of plastic going astray, both on land and at sea. In many Asian countries, he has seen that there are no good waste solutions that contribute to, for example, plastic being recycled in a circular way. Over the last 2-3 years, new technology has been developed that makes it easier to choose sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives, and the main goal is to promote environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil plastics so that society can become more aware of this.

Paragit Solutions

Paragit Solutions is an early-stage medical device startup working to develop and market a novel solution to support early diagnosis and personalized treatment of neurological disorders – starting with Parkinson’s. Based in Copenhagen, the company has won several innovation challenges in Scandinavia and Silicon Valley and the development has largely been funded by EIT Health, Innovation Fund Denmark, and other innovation environments. We are working with leading clinical partners to test and validate the solution, and recently closed our seed round of 12 million DKK from prominent investors. We are a small team of 5 full-time employees and 7 part-time/freelancers working with high flexibility from our office in Frederiksberg. We are developing a solution consisting of both hardware and software. The patented Paragit Sleeve collects high-resolution data on muscle activity, movement, and grip force from patients during daily life. The data is transferred to the software suite, where it is modeled and correlated to clinical measurements of disease severity. This provides clinicians with a holistic overview of patients’ symptoms and treatment responses during daily life, which, in turn, fosters optimized treatment and better care.
