Danish Development Research Network (DDRN)

Danish Development Research Network (DDRN) is a non-governmental organization comprising individual and institutional members based in any country. Membership is open to researchers, students, aid practitioners, consultants, private and public entities and others who are involved in the generation, communication and application of knowledge to support sustainable development in the Global South countries. There is a wide gap between North and South in research as a resource for development. According to the UNESCO Science Report 2015, low income countries had 121 researchers per 1 mill. inhabitants, as opposed to high income countries with 3,814 researchers per 1 mill. inhabitants in 2013. During the same year, 1,363,074 scientific articles were published by researchers in OECD member states, as compared to only 3,909 articles by researchers in low income countries. Global challenges call for joint research to retrieve and combine data across North-South divides. The mutual interests between South and North researchers in exploring global solutions set agendas for research beyond conventional development studies. The emphasis in Denmark on innovation holds a potential for a broad engagement with South countries towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Research by South researchers working in Denmark provides knowledge resources for South-North public and private partnerships.

ABEL Technologies

The Problem Most workplaces struggle with high sick leave — and the root causes are rarely acute injuries or illness. They are lifestyle-driven issues: • fatigue and low energy • stress and mental strain • poor sleep • musculoskeletal pain • unhealthy habits • lack of support These problems build up over time, and employees try to handle them alone. But people don’t change their health on their own — and employers don’t have the tools or competency to help them. The result? High sick leave costs, reduced productivity, and employees who are stuck in patterns they can’t break. Why it matters Sick leave is one of the biggest hidden costs in business. A single employee on sick leave costs on average 65 200 kr per year — and 20% of employees account for 80% of the total. Most of these cases are preventable with the right support. At the same time, people want help: 85% prefer guidance from a qualified professional rather than trying to solve health challenges alone. ABEL’s Role ABEL solves this gap. We connect employees with qualified health coaches who follow them closely over time — mentally, physically, and socially. Through structured guidance and our digital platform, we help people make sustainable lifestyle changes that reduce sick leave and increase wellbeing. The impact: Employees get better health. Companies save money. Society reduces the burden of preventable illness.

EV-Remarketing

At EV-Remarketing we’ve built a digital platform that transforms how used electric vehicles are bought and sold across Europe. We take the complexity out of selling an EV - from offer to payment to pickup - and replace it with speed, transparency and fairness. Last year we completed over 5,000 vehicle transactions with a 98% success rate, helping more than 25,000 sellers across Europe. Our tech stack handles everything: automatic data-extraction from documents using AI, integration with national vehicle databases, fraud detection, full digital workflows and logistics orchestration. We focus exclusively on electric vehicles, giving us deep domain expertise - which means we offer better value to sellers and turn-around times that beat traditional routes.

GolfMore

We’re building the operating system for modern golf clubs. GolfMore helps clubs run smarter, sell more, and deliver an excellent experience for members and guests - from the driving range to the simulator room and everything in between. Our story GolfMore grew out of Probox24, a self-service vending solution tightly integrated with national tee-sheet booking systems. What started as a single product is now a suite of connected software and hardware that powers daily operations at golf clubs. Today, GolfMore serves clubs across 18 countries, from small local clubs to large, prestigious venues. What we build A unified platform that combines payments, access, automation, and admin: • Driving Range — State-of-the-art self-service payment and ball dispensing • Self-Service Kiosk — Intuitive on-site purchasing and check-in tied to booking systems • Voucher Management — Issue, store, and redeem with full auditability • Simulator Management — Automated access control • Club Admin (Web) — Operational dashboards, content, and product setup, reporting • GolfMore App (Mobile) — A 360,000-user wallet for paying green fees, range, and more Everything is designed to be reliable, revenue-generating, and easy to run - so staff can focus on the golfer, not the system. Traction & momentum • ARR ~10m DKK and growing ~25% YoY • Operating in 18 countries with strong product-market fit • Recently welcomed a private equity fund as a shareholder to accelerate product and international expansion Why now Golf is digitizing - fast. Clubs expect seamless payments, automation, and data visibility, while golfers want frictionless on-course and off-course experiences. With new capital and a multi-year roadmap, we’re scaling the platform, deepening integrations, and launching new modules that unlock real operational leverage for clubs. How we work We’re builders. We value momentum, craftsmanship, and reliability. Engineers own problems end-to-end, ship iteratively, and collaborate closely with product, design, and operations. We favor pragmatic architecture, strong testing practices, and CI/CD to keep quality high and releases smooth. Culture & values • Ownership: Small teams, big responsibility • Customer impact: Decisions anchored in real-world club operations • Quality: Stable systems, thoughtful UX, measurable outcomes • Kindness & clarity: Direct communication, low ego, high trust Life at GolfMore (Ry, Denmark) Our HQ is in Ry, Denmark. We’re office-first because tight feedback loops matter—especially when building hardware-software systems used daily on site. There’s flexibility for occasional home working. Perks & setup • Delicious lunch program • Modern office facilities (bright spaces, focus rooms, meeting rooms, great gear) • In-house coffee bar with excellent espresso • New tech gear, supportive teammates, and plenty of room to grow The opportunity With fresh funding, strong traction, and a packed roadmap, this is a chance to shape the global platform that powers golf operations - own domains, lead initiatives, and see your work live at clubs across markets.

PayTjek

PayTjek is developing an AI-powered payroll verification platform that helps employees detect and resolve salary discrepancies through automated collective agreement analysis and intelligent error detection. Payroll errors are a widespread and costly problem, with billions lost each year because employees never uncover them. Payslips are often complex and difficult to understand without specialist knowledge of collective agreements and labor laws — expertise usually reserved for lawyers, union representatives, and HR professionals. This leaves everyday workers, from healthcare staff to teachers, at risk of losing money they are rightfully owed. PayTjek democratizes payroll expertise. Employees simply upload their payslip, and our AI analyzes salary data, cross-references it with relevant collective agreements, checks against work schedules and contracts, and flags discrepancies or missing payments. The results are delivered in clear, plain language, giving workers both understanding and actionable next steps. Our technology is built to interpret even the most complex Danish labor agreements, with a roadmap to expand across European markets. We are driven by a strong sense of fairness. Payroll verification has long been out of reach for the people who need it most. Without the right tools, employees have been left powerless in the face of errors. PayTjek exists to change that — to return knowledge, transparency, and financial control to workers, starting with healthcare employees in Denmark and expanding to empower workers across Europe.

movogo

MovoGo is developing a high-speed, AI-powered rental platform for contractors who need heavy equipment - fast. We’re solving the chaos of fragmented rentals with instant booking, dynamic pricing, and real-time availability. Think Uber meets Airbnb, built for construction. The What: what are you solving? The €35B+ equipment rental industry is stuck in the past. Contractors waste hours calling rental houses, chasing quotes, and juggling delays. Meanwhile, suppliers sit on underutilized machines and outdated booking systems. It’s fragmented, analog, and slow - killing time, budgets, and margins across the board. This isn’t a niche problem. It affects tens of thousands of businesses, every single day. The How: How MovoGo solves this We’re building the infrastructure layer for machine rentals, not just another marketplace. Contractors get real-time availability, instant booking, and transparent pricing. Rental houses get automated fleet management, AI-driven pricing, and higher utilization. The platform controls pricing logic within supplier-defined ranges eliminating race-to-the-bottom chaos and creating a unified user experience. We’ve validated the problem, mapped the tech stack, built brand and design assets, and have multiple rental houses ready for onboarding. Now we need the right CTO to bring it to life. Fast. The Why: Why we’re doing this We’ve built companies before. We’ve scaled. We’ve seen how clunky, offline workflows bleed time and value especially in construction. But this one stuck with us. The inefficiency was everywhere. Nobody had built a true platform that just works. No AI. No instant rentals. Just friction. So we said screw it. Let’s build it ourselves and flip the industry.

North ESG

At North ESG, we’re building the AI-powered ESG accounting software for SMEs. 99% of all companies in Europe are small and medium-sized enterprises. They drive our economy - but when it comes to sustainability, they are underserved. ESG reporting is complex, time-consuming, and an administrative hassle. We believe the future of ESG should be about growth - not admin. Our mission is to free up time and strengthen the ESG profile of SMEs as a commercial advantage, so they can stay competitive, win more business, and meet rising demands from customers, regulators, and investors. Our platform automates the entire ESG reporting process using AI - from data collection to emissions calculations and EU-aligned reporting. It integrates with ERP systems and leverages both public and private data sources to generate tailored, commercially viable ESG reports. We’ve already gained strong market traction across industries in Denmark. And with ESG requirements increasingly cascading down from large corporates and financial institutions, we’re solving a growing pain for millions of SMEs across Europe.

Qpaws – Dog Activity App

Qpaws is a cutting-edge digital platform transforming how dog owners manage and enhance their pets' well-being. Our startup is solving several critical challenges dog owners face, especially in today's fast-paced world where dogs often struggle with insufficient exercise, poor nutrition, and irregular health monitoring. The problem is more urgent than ever, with studies indicating that over 70% of dogs are overweight, leading to a wide range of health issues that affect their quality of life. Qpaws started by focusing on the highly demanding dog sport of mushing, where monitoring dogs' activity and health is crucial. However, we quickly realized that the problems we were solving for mushers—like optimizing training, tracking feeding, and improving overall dog care—are problems all dog owners face. Whether it's the daily walker, the outdoor enthusiast, or the professional trainer, every dog owner wants to provide the best for their furry companions. This realization led us to expand the app's features to appeal to all dog owners, creating a more inclusive platform that anyone can use, regardless of their activity level or how many dogs they care for. We solve a wide range of dog care challenges through smart, intuitive technology. At its core, Qpaws tracks activity, ensuring that dogs get enough exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But it doesn't stop there. We also provide tools for health monitoring—keeping track of vaccinations, vet visits, and other medical needs. On top of that, the app offers personalized nutrition advice, guiding owners on the best diet for their dog based on breed, age, and activity levels. One of the unique aspects of Qpaws is its open approach to hardware integration. Most dog tech platforms are closed ecosystems, requiring expensive, specialized devices that limit their accessibility. Qpaws flips the script by being hardware-agnostic. You can use it with any wearable you choose, or none at all, making it an affordable and scalable solution that meets the needs of dog owners around the world. This accessibility, combined with the app's social networking features, allows dog owners to connect with a global community, sharing tips, experiences, and inspiration, making dog care more enjoyable and rewarding. As the global pet tech industry booms, Qpaws is perfectly positioned to grow rapidly. We already have a solid user base of over 14,000 active members and 32,000 dogs tracked on the platform. But this is just the beginning. Our goal is to transition from a niche product for extreme sports enthusiasts to a widely used app for all dog owners. With 350 million dog owners worldwide, the total addressable market is vast. We're gearing up for international expansion, with a particular focus on the UK and US markets, where pet ownership and interest for pet care are at all-time highs. In summary, Qpaws is not just an app for tracking your dog's walks—it's a comprehensive tool designed to improve every aspect of dog care. From exercise and nutrition to health monitoring and community engagement, Qpaws addresses the key challenges dog owners face today and provides innovative solutions to ensure their dogs live longer, healthier, and happier lives. With our vision, technology, and market potential, Qpaws is poised to lead the digital transformation in the pet care industry globally. Are you a developer and want to be part of our exciting journey, get in touch at sigmund@qpaws.com Your passion for dogs is optional—your passion for building world-class software is what truly matters.
