In 2016, hurricane Matthew swept across Haiti, taking 852 lives and destroying many towns on the island. Another essential factor is that the sea surface temperature is above 26.5°C. Climate change is causing sea surface temperatures to increase. In the case of hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria that occurred between August and September 2017, sea surface temperatures were measured as high as 32°C. The big questionIs it possible to cool the sea surface to below 26.5°C by exploiting colder water from deeper in the water column?
