Celora Studio is a start-up from Uppsala, Sweden, who designs, manufactures and sells sound-transparent speaker covers. So that you can show your personality, and design your home the way you like it. Soon we'll be launching Canvas – a speaker cover in a sound-transparent and eco-labelled fabric that allows you to change the color of Sonos One. Our next step is to create speaker covers for more Sonos products, and for other speaker ranges. Our vision is to make electronics something that adds beauty and personality to your home, rather than something you want to hide. And that you should never have to replace electronics just because you don’t like the look of it anymore. So how did we get here? First of all, we have a passion for entrepreneurship and wanted to build a company. A company with a sustainable business model, and where people can be happy and thrive. We also saw that small multi-room and smart speakers are becoming increasingly popular, but they mostly come in black, white and gray. Through qualitative studies we identified the need to change the look of these speakers, and realised it could be done through speaker covers. Since then we have also seen the need to personalise home electronics in general. We hope that being able to change the look of home electronics and applicances will increase their lifespan and reduce waste. This leads us to sustainability, which is an important aspect of what we do. We want to find ways that our business can contribute to the Agenda 2030 goals. Canvas for Sonos One is manufactured under fair working conditions in the EU, using fabric that’s certified according to EU-ecolabel and Indoor advantage gold. We also believe in diversity and fair working conditions at Celora Studio. We’re only two people in the team so far, but we’re diverse when it comes to age and ethnicity. We’re aware of our own biases, and strive to use unbiased and scientifically proven methods in everything from setting salaries to recruitment and promotions.

In 2024 Design Matters is turning 10 and it's hosting an event in Singapore as part of the Singapore Design Week. Since 2020, all Design Matters events have been hybrid - both online and in-person. The Design Matters community has grown so much in the last few years that it has prompted us to expand our events even more internationally and to seek new members of our team. Our key features are: sustainable forest management and secure cross-border investing. Forestry is a dinosaur industry that we aim to disrupt. Coordination among marketplace participants is very fragmented. For a forest owner, it is cumbersome finding out prices from different forestry companies and finding a trustworthy partner, especially across borders. Foros opens up opportunities for much wider groups of people to benefit from owning forests. People will be able to invest in forests at ease, entrusting forest management to our experienced forestry professionals who will take good care of forests and manage them sustainably. Forest owners will get our offers and suggestions for how to best manage the forest. We call them 'your forest value growth plan'. These offers forest owners will be able to activate and implement within a few button clicks. Behind the scenes, to aid better decision making we will utilise big data analytics and machine learning. To date we have handled €24m in forest land transactions. This shows that there is a dire need for a digital, modern solution for existing forest owners.
