Helsinki-based digital marketing and language localization company SULONORTH was founded by Alina Lehtinen-Vela in 2019. Alina grew up in Finland’s Häme region and in the capital, Helsinki. After graduating with a degree in Scandinavian languages from the University of Helsinki, she spent a decade traveling the world and working in language localization, journalism, and marketing. Her writing has appeared in Finnish publications such as Mondo, Keskisuomalainen, Turun Sanomat and Etelä-Suomen Sanomat. Being a ‘digital nomad’ and working in a plethora of beach resorts, backstreet cafes, and border towns was fun though, alas, everyone grows up. The demand for localized digital marketing and direct engagement with online audiences was one of the reasons that she decided to set up shop back home in Finland. SULONORTH is now running at full throttle from a plant-filled office in Helsinki’s Lauttasaari district. Don’t stop her now! This isn’t to say Alina’s nomad days are entirely over. Our founder Shelley started to float 8 years ago in other countries and it helped her to recover from a very stressful period of her life. Kvasir is solving one of the most difficult problems in the world; how to replace fossil fuels in the heavy transportation industries. Kvasir has developed and patented a unique process to convert ligno-cellulosic plant biomass (straw, wood, bagasse etc. ) to marine fuel in a simple one step process. The process involves cooking biomass in an alcohol atmosphere under pressure, effectively liquefying the biomass.
