NewSchool develops innovative digital tools for collaboration and project based learning by combining agile working methods, psychology, games and mobile media.The tools draw on a set of successful business practices  - the kanban boards for Lean Management, adapted to education purposes, in real-time. We are an education technology start-up, with extensive change management experience, unique insights in workforce trends and technology, and pedagogy at its core. Besides the three co-founders, NewSchool relies on an interdisciplinary board of administration with senior level execs: Anne Posner, Bjarne Solhaug, and Paal Kaperdal, all with broad experience, covering international business development expertise, publishing house and human resources expertise, and digital transformation expertise. The Problem The prevalence of the most common retinal diseases, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy (DR), is rising in industrialized countries. In addition to demographic changes, this trend is also partly driven by growing numbers of patients with diabetes. This is increasing the workload in hospital ophthalmic units, and public ophthalmologists leading to waiting times of up to 12 months in Norway. This in turn increases the risk for serious eye damage in the general population at risk. The Solution Eyecheck System is a modular SaaS platform that shares clinical imaging, referrals, and other clinical correspondence securely and instantly between healthcare professionals. This in turn enables decentralized controls and diagnosis of patients even in rural areas with sub-optimal eye specialist coverage. Decentralized controls and screenings are made possible due to the vast amount of geographically spread retina imaging devices in over 600 optometrist locations throughout Norway alone. In addition to that, there is a wide-ranging discrepancy of competence levels across the profession of optometrists, where such a service would benefit both the patients and the optometrists. The reason why We are passionate about Eyecare and want to avoid blindness and other serious eye complications in Europe by digitizing the patient journey and creating a modern, more sustainable way to help patients get better. Dyrk is like an Airbnb, but for gardens. We let garden owners rent out their garden to people who needs some space to grow their own vegetables. The growers will pay a monthly subscription to be able to grow their own vegetables in a garden. The garden owners can put their garden out on our platform and wait for growers to apply so they can earn money. There does not exist a way to rent a garden space or to rent out your garden. The alternative today if you do not own a garden yourself is to sign up for allotment garden through the municipality. In Oslo the allotment from the municipality has a waiting time of atleast 20 years. The waiting time is far too long on today’s alternatives for growing. After corona the interest for growing vegetables has been booming. We tackle this problem by letting people who own a garden rent it out to these people that want to grow, but do not have the space themselves.
