We use robots to automate and democratize access to healthcare! The groundbreaking robot, Careebo, has been designed and developed by a team of robotics researchers at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, a city home to one of the world’s leading robotics clusters. The robot was developed as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the issues we suddenly faced as a global society. Clearly, we were not ready - we want to change that! The pandemic led to cross-infection between citizens and healthcare workers, low qualtiy samples due to inter-personal variability, and unequal access to basic healthcare such a swab sample. At Lifeline Robotics, we aim to enhance our pandemic preparedness and global health securty by utilizing automation and robotics to create a system which enables ongoing and implemented monitoring of what moves around in our societies. HEKA VR is a medical software platform that enables Avatar-Therapy, a form of psychotherapy, to be conducted in a Virtual Reality or in a Telehealth setting. VR-based Avatar Therapy combines psychology and VR technology to provide transformative interventions for mental health disorders. Grounded in research, this therapy utilises virtual reality and avatars to create immersive experiences. In schizophrenia, Avatar Therapy helps patients gain control over auditory hallucinations, but Avatar Therapy holds promise for improving mental health outcomes among patients with Eating Disorders, PTSD, Bipolar disorder, Borderline disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and many more. Heka VR was born through a public-private partnership and research project called The Challenge Trial - initiated in 2019, funded by the Danish Innovation Fund and with the final research results published in The Lancet Psychiatry in July 2025. The results show that VR based Avatar-Therapy is a an effective new treatment method for 7/10 patients with treatment resistant Schizophrenia. Currently Heka VR is involved in 10+ clinical trials and studies around the world, from North America to APAC. As society has progressively moved towards increased digitalisation and users have increased requirements for remote access to services, there is a greater need for secure methodologies that allow companies to identify and transact with customers and other stakeholders remotely. Inevitably, new opportunities come with new challenges, including: - Identity theft: biometric databases are proliferating and criminals are highly motivated to acquire biometric credentials and use them to impersonate others, usually for fraudulent purposes.
