Connecting Grounds is a food start-up based in Aarhus that up-cycles spent coffee grounds (a.k.a. coffee waste) into a food ingredient for B2B snack and confectionary companies and restaurants. Why do we do it? 1. Environment Spent coffee grounds are often treated as waste. Think about how many cups of coffee you or the people around you drink per day. All the coffee waste from drinking coffee adds to the Greenhouse Gas Emissions. 2. Nutritional Value When we brew our cup of coffee, we are only taking advantage of 1% of coffee's nutrients. 99% of these nutrients stay in the spent coffee grounds. These nutrients include caffeine, dietary fibre, proteins and valuable minerals. What we do is change the narrative behind hidden food waste by starting with coffee by-products. By up-cycling such a product, we evert emissions, take advantage of our resources and raise awareness on the importance of up-cycling. Rethinking food is what we do, and we will not stop with coffee by-products. We will continue to search for resources/ingredients that have the potential of being reintroduced in the food stream, again.

Although society aims at replacing fossil resources with sustainable, renewable alternatives, the production of many materials like plastics and rubbers are still very dependent on fossil fuels. To replace petrol-based rubbers in consumer products, we developed a process to transform birch bark, an abundant residue of the global forestry industry, into the novel biomaterial, Reselo Rubber. Based on a comprehensive material characterisation and encouraging feedback from customers we believe that Reselo Rubber has great potential to replace fossil-derived rubbers in applications like footwear, protective gear, playground flooring and toys.

Established in 2010 and headquartered in Amsterdam, we orchestrate a community of more than 200 organisations including large corporations and SMEs, municipal and regional governments, universities, and research institutes, as well as non-governmental organisations and uncommon actors. Historically, we have been funded by our founder and core funder, the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), but we are currently transitioning to a multi-funder model. EIT Climate-KIC colleagues are based in one of our local offices across Europe or work remotely from home based in one of the countries where we have a branch. We meet at our local offices to exchange and connect and use online collaboration tools work with each other and with our Community. On occasion, we meet in-person as teams, and once per year as an organisation.

As a midwife Anna saw the increase in birth trauma and the lack in birth preparation and understanding of physiological birth amongst newborn mothers. She saw the correlation and wanted to help women feel empowered in meeting their rite of passage and have a positive birth experience.

MDriven was founded by Hans Karlsen, a software architect with focus in Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Model Driven Architecture (MDA). After working as a developer for over 20 years, he developed a low-code platform that made it 30 times faster to prototype, develop, and deploy enterprise level applications. Soon after launching Lars Olofsson joined to further develop and grow what is now known as MDriven. Today, MDriven is being used by some of the largest institutions in Sweden. VR-Nature relaxes patients by engaging their attention in a nature therapy based virtual experience. An effective way to calm patients based on a data, and a science driven solution. The solution fit custom available VR goggles. Thuri drives the company with enthusiasm and stamina, resulting in an MVP with a unique front end adapted to dental treatment – all created on bootstrapping. The sales process is initiated and VR-Nature seek investment and increase the team to increase marketing, sales, and continue a healthy tech business development. VR-Nature aim to become "Global first choice for dentist to treat patients with dental fear". Why? – Because VR-Nature has the potential to help up to 40% of the population to better health and dental care. Developed to fit dental procedure and more vertical markets to come. Thuri started VR-Nature on a fascination of the combination of tech, nature, and business to help patients – because it feels the best way to spend precious energy and time in life. Impatience and a goal to make a huge difference made her start her own companies. A big driver is believing that a healthier future must include a combination of nature and health tech driven solutions. In the end – WE ARE all NATURE. Zerotude har utvecklat en banbrytande mjukvara som revolutionerar hur fastighetsbolag angriper energirenoveringar i stor skala. Kärnprodukten genererar omfattande, skräddarsydda renoveringsplaner omedelbart från inget annat än en byggnads adress. Med 8 fler företag som ansluter sig i oktober och aggressiva expansionsplaner siktar de på 20% av svenska lägenheter innan årets slut. Företaget har säkrat tre stora fastighetskunder, erhållit finansiering från Energimyndigheten och investerare inklusive Saminvest, och är positionerat för att skapa Sveriges första omfattande nationella renoveringsplan - direkt stödjande kommande lagstiftning kring implementationen av energiprestandadirektivet. Detta representerar en förskjutning från manuella, byggnad-för-byggnad-bedömningar till automatiserad, rikstäckande renoveringsintelligens.
