Montel Intergalactic

Montelieers form the A-team of technology. We provide our clients with top-quality software development and reliable Cloud DevOps services. We want to have the happiest team members and best adventures. So far we have done great: the overall satisfaction score of Montelieers is 5/5. Self-organized work, the balance of freedom and responsibility, modern tools and technologies, and customer closeness are the cornerstones of getting things done the Montel-way. How it all started: In the early spring of 2016, three seasoned software veterans gathered in a remote cottage in Lapland to get away from the information society. Inspired by vast open spaces around us they envisioned the ultimate working place, a clear win-win destination for both the clients and professionals working there. The base layout for Montel Intergalactic was laid during that refuge and the official company was founded during autumn 2016, registered in Enontekiö to respect the inspiration given by Lapland. A few principles we follow: Communication is the key. Our professionals work independently. Nobody is going to be hovering at your desk telling you what to do. Every project has a lead developer who is not only in charge of finding other developers from Montel to work on the project but also listens to the clients desires and proactively suggests new ventures for them. Our aim is to be as productive as possible while maximizing the kicks we get out of doing our work. Often that means working from home or the office and sometimes from the end of a long pier by the sea. All this is totally ok and up to you.

PERE.COM

The PERE narrative We set out to fix a fairness problem that’s plagued the hospitality industry for as long as most can remember. And if we don’t fix it - right now - it might very well result in the complete erosion of how we think about the hospitality business today. Have we got your attention? Great! Let’s start with restaurants, who still reward local businesses for referring guests in ways that are beyond outdated. Offering things like free drinks, meals and under-the-table cash payments are not only unsustainable, they’re eschewed by those receiving them and largely frowned upon by regulatory bodies. What restaurants need is a more effective and modern way to get butts in seats and reward loyal referrers. And reliable, personal referrals from higher-spending guests have never been in greater demand for the beleaguered restaurant industry. Even before the pandemic, food delivery was slowly upending restaurants by forcing them to pay absurdly high commissions for customers on what are already razor thin margins. Even more, restaurants are now pressured to change their businesses to serve take-away and delivery customers instead of the more profitable (and real) dine-in customers, which is why almost all chefs and restaurateurs got into the business to begin with. At the same time, hotels - responsible for sending restaurants a steady flow of personal referrals - are forced to fork out big bucks just to get guests to their properties, much of that going to online travel agencies who charge up to 30% commissions for referrals. With profits shrinking, you’d think that hotels could simply recover those earnings when they refer their guests to nearby businesses. If they’re paying when they receive a guest referral, shouldn’t they be paid when they make a guest referral? That seems fair. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. That’s because today, the hospitality referral model is a broken, one-way street with no quick and easy way for people to profit when they make a personal referral. That includes especially hotel concierges, whose entire existence is founded on the ability to provide quality referrals. Feeling increasingly overlooked, undervalued and under appreciated in a digital world, they’re eager for an easier and better way to re-stake their claim and profit from sending guests to local businesses. That’s why we think it’s time for a change - a new and more fair way to do business in the hospitality industry. What’s long been accepted as a one-way street for paying for referrals needs to be expanded into a multilane highway where everyone can profit from personal referrals. At PERE, we’re building a global community of hospitality heroes who are passionate about delivering better service and memorable experiences by harnessing the power of personal referrals. That’s thousands of hotels, concierges, restaurants and other hospitality heroes instantly connected. With PERE, everyone wins. Professionals get a quick and easy way to profit when they refer guests. Businesses get higher spending referred customers in the door. Everyone gets a tool that lets them deliver a better customer experience and effortlessly see all transactions while staying transparent. At the end of the day, what people want are experiences. They want to connect, to learn, to grow through human interaction. At PERE, we celebrate how a personal referral connects humans in profound ways and establishes a handshake of trust and loyalty between our community. Won’t you join us?

Podbike AS

Podbike has developed a fully enclosed and street-worthy e-bike, that gives you the freedom to ride comfortably 365 days a year. // The problem // Today half of all car journeys are shorter than 5 km and can easily be replaced by cycling. Using a two-ton car, even if electric, is inefficient for short distances. It is resource intensive, pollutes, creates congestions and you do not get any exercise. European Green Deal states that a 90% reduction in transport emissions is needed by 2050 to be climate neutral – calling for green mobility solutions, especially in and close to cities. // Our solution // Podbike has created a practical, safe and sustainable 4-wheeled e-bike with room for cargo or your child. An e-bike that offers freedom and comfort in any weather. No license necessary and you can use the bike lanes. It is small, easy to charge and park. You avoid stressful traffic jams and get light exercise while minimizing your environmental footprint. It makes your daily commute a joy. Compared to a car it has a fraction of the environmental footprint both during production and in use.

Missing Maps

The Missing Maps project maps the most vulnerable places in the developing world.  Building on the excellent work done by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) and others in mapping as emergency response, the Missing Maps Project aims to map the places in the world where the most vulnerable people live in a proactive way. Instead of responding to a natural disaster, conflict or epidemic, regions vulnerable to crises are identified and mapped in anticipation of crises, meaning that when one occurs, local people, NGOs and other responders can start using the maps and the data from the word go, saving valuable time, and potentially, lives. The Missing Maps Project is an open collaboration founded by the American Red Cross, the British Red Cross, Humanitarian OSM Team (HOT) and Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
