Tech-first. Ego-free. User-obsessed. Over a million Danes use Skatteguiden to understand and optimise their taxes: automating tax tracking, surfacing deductions people didn't know they had, and connecting directly to the Danish tax authority to do it. We're an independent, profitable, 50-person company in central Copenhagen with a 4.7-star rating and one mission: make financial insight accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford an accountant.
None of that works without data people can trust. Our platform runs on Snowflake, Dagster and dbt, and we're investing further in it. We're looking for a data engineer who wants to own it: build it, run it and keep improving it, from infrastructure and ingestion down to the SQL.
If you're ready for the step up to senior and want a platform that's yours to own, not one you build and hand over, this is it.
The team works in English, so Danish isn't required. We're together in our Copenhagen office five days a week, with flexibility for the odd day at home when life calls for it.
Ingestion, end to end. Get data from our source systems into Snowflake, and work with our product and platform teams on data contracts so pipelines hold up as those systems change.
Orchestration in Dagster. Scheduling, dependencies, monitoring and recovering when things fail.
Infrastructure as code. Snowflake environments, access and cost, managed in Terraform.
dbt models and dbt Cloud. Turn raw data into well-tested data products, and run the environments, jobs and deployments behind them.
How we use AI in the data stack. Help decide where it earns its place, and build it.
Better practices. Testing, CI/CD, semantic modelling and performance on Snowflake.
Over time, exposure to Java and our event-driven architecture.
3+ years building data pipelines or data platforms.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt, ideally in your current role.
You've owned ingestion end to end, including the messy parts: source quirks, backfills, schema drift. You're more at home on the ingestion and platform side than in analytics and dashboards.
Experience with orchestration (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect or similar), and you're fine being the one who gets paged when something breaks.
You work well with engineers outside data and can turn product needs into data models.
Strong fundamentals matter more to us than having touched every tool in our stack. Terraform and dbt Cloud you can learn with us.
Nice to have
Infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
dbt Cloud administration or DCM.
Java or another OOP language, and event-driven architecture.
Experience applying AI or LLMs within a data platform.
A platform you own long term. What you design ships, infrastructure included, and it stays yours. No handover, no next project.
A modern stack, not legacy debt. Snowflake, Dagster, dbt Cloud, Terraform, Evidence and Lightdash, built recently and built to be extended.
Close to product, not a data silo. Your input shapes what gets built upstream, not just what you transform downstream.
A problem worth solving. Danish tax law is genuinely complex, and modelling it well is a real engineering challenge.
Impact you can point to. Your pipelines and models power a product over a million Danes use to get their taxes right.
Independent and profitable. No investor KPIs or heavy hierarchy; we answer to our users.
