Team & role overview
At Gowish, the Product team is responsible for building the core experiences that drive how people create, share, and act on wishes. Our work focuses on strengthening the core wishlist functionality, building habit-forming experiences, and expanding the gifting experience.
We are now establishing a dedicated user research function within the Product team to deepen our understanding of how people use Gowish and where the biggest opportunities lie.
As a User Researcher, you will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and Data to uncover the motivations, behaviors, and barriers behind how users interact with the product. Your work will help shape product decisions around activation, retention, discovery, social features, and monetization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building structure, running end-to-end research, and translating user insights into clear product direction.
Responsibilities:
Set up the foundations for how user research is conducted within the product team
Develop research processes, documentation, and knowledge sharing practices
Plan and run qualitative research such as interviews, usability testing, and surveys
Investigate key product questions around activation, wish creation, discovery, sharing, and purchasing behavior
Help the team understand differences between markets, particularly the US and Scandinavia
Translate research findings into clear product recommendations
Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to shape research questions tied to roadmap decisions
Use behavioral data to identify research opportunities and define user segments
Validate product hypotheses before and after launches
Highlight patterns in user behavior and unmet needs
What we’re looking for 🌟
We are looking for someone who is curious about how people behave with products and enjoys uncovering the reasons behind those behaviors.
You may be junior or mid-level, but you should be comfortable operating independently and helping establish a research function.
Experience
Experience conducting user research for digital products (consumer apps, marketplaces, social platforms, or e-commerce is a plus)
Strong qualitative research skills including interviews, usability testing, and survey design
Experience synthesizing research findings and translating them into actionable insights
Experience collaborating closely with product and design teams
Experience in the US market
Skills and mindset
Ability to design research around clear product questions and decisions
Comfortable working with behavioral data to inform research direction
Strong communication and storytelling skills when presenting insights
Structured approach to analyzing and synthesizing research findings
Curiosity about user behavior and a pragmatic mindset when translating insights into product improvements
Nice to have
Experience working with multiple markets or international users
Familiarity with behavioral segmentation or product analytics tools
Experience building research processes or repositories from scratch
