About Electricity Maps⚡️🗺️

Electricity Maps is the world’s most comprehensive electricity data platform. We provide global access to electricity mix, prices, and carbon intensity - available in real time, historically, and forecasted.

Our products make it possible to understand and act on the carbon impact of electricity consumption:

→ Interactive Map, used by millions of people worldwide to explore the real-time carbon footprint of electricity.

→ API & Datasets – powering products and decisions at leading companies like Google, Cisco, Schneider Electric, and more.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a Content Marketing Manager to own our SEO, LinkedIn, and email channels. Someone who can turn Electricity Maps’ wealth of data into stories that reach the people building sustainability solutions.

You’ll work closely with Dragos, our Marketing Lead, in a small, two-person team with high ownership, room to experiment, and a role that evolves with the business rather than following a fixed day-to-day.

What You’ll Do

  • Own our content distribution strategy and calendar. From ad-hoc requests from colleagues, to proactive data analyses that align with our positioning, you’ll have the freedom to build and shape Electricity Maps’ content engine.

  • Turn what we build into stories that resonate. Translate data, events, features, and internal updates into clear, engaging content for our external audience.

  • Own and distribute content across channels. Share and repurpose content across web, LinkedIn, and email to maximize reach and impact.

  • Repurpose long-form content into high-impact formats. Turn reports, articles, and insights into snackable posts, visuals, newsletters, and other formats.

  • Manage email content across marketing and product. Work closely with the commercial team to run and improve our email programs and nurture flows.

  • Contribute to scalable content initiatives. Support and help shape programmatic and repeatable content efforts that grow our reach over time.

  • Create data-driven content from our unique insights. Collaborate with our data experts to transform electricity data into compelling posts, blog articles, and other relevant formats. Here are a couple of examples:

Some of this is working well. Some of it has a lot of untapped potential and maybe we even miss the mark on some of it. We know this can go much farther and that’s exactly why we need you!

What You Won’t Do

Be a generic “sustainability content” writer. This role is rooted in energy systems, electricity data, and real use cases, not vague sustainability thought leadership.

Reinvent the wheel every day. A big part of the job you’ll build on existing product updates, datasets, and insights by reusing, remixing, and amplifying what already exists.

Work in isolation. Even if we are a small team, you won’t sit alone trying to guess what’s interesting. You’ll collaborate closely with product, data, and commercial teammates to shape content together. (We even have quite a few colleagues who love to share and interact online).

Requirements

  • Strong content writing skills (short and long-form). You can craft clear, compelling content across formats - from sharp LinkedIn posts to in-depth articles and web pages.

  • Experience translating technical topics into engaging stories. You’re comfortable working with product, data, or engineering teams and turning complex ideas into content that captivates our audience.

  • SEO expertise with real impact. You understand how to research topics, structure content, and optimize for search.

  • Website content management experience. You’ve owned or contributed to website content in a CMS before: creating pages, improving structure, and thinking about how content supports user journeys.

  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of your workflow. You already use tools like ChatGPT (or similar) to brainstorm, draft, edit, research, and generally work smarter - not harder.

Working at
Electricity Maps

Electricity Maps provides actionable electricity data for more than 200 regions. We help businesses more effectively reduce their emissions, and enable products and services to differentiate their offerings by empowering end-users to be more carbon-aware. As wind and solar production fluctuate throughout the day, this information needs to be dynamic and updated in real-time. As this real-time information about the physical origin of electricity will be scrutinized and challenged by many parties, the effort has to be collaborative, open, and transparent. This is what motivated the creation of Electricity Maps. It started as a simple real-time data visualization in June 2016 and turned into a comprehensive data platform with high scientific integrity. More than 40,000 people use our app on a daily basis and market leaders like Google and Microsoft, are using our API for extensive projects in order to reach their climate goals and help their users take action against climate change. Our goal: a truly decarbonized electricity system. To get there, we will organize the world's electricity information, and use it to drive the transition toward a truly decarbonized electricity system.
