Technical Product Developer (Maternity Cover)

Salary Competitive

About Us

95% of all fashion brands don’t produce their own garments. We’re proud to be part of the other 5%.

Founded in Copenhagen in 2014, Son of a Tailor is one of the most pioneering menswear brands in operation today. With over one million products sold, we’ve redefined everyday essentials through custom-fit precision and a transformative made-to-order production model.  Garments are produced in our own factory in Portugal, giving us full control over quality, craftsmanship, and working conditions.

About the Role

As our full-time Technical Product Developer, you’ll work closely with our Product Director and play a central role in developing new products from initial concept through sampling and production handover.

The role sits at the intersection of product thinking, technical development, and production execution. You’ll contribute actively to product decisions, translating trends and ideas into well-built garments through hands-on development, sampling, and close collaboration with our own production setup. Working across teams and disciplines, you’ll help ensure products meet our standards for fit, materials, construction, and launch readiness.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with the Product Director to identify and develop new product opportunities aligned with brand direction.

  • Present product ideas, prototypes, and development progress, helping define which styles move forward each season.

  • Own and iterate the sampling process from first prototype to final approval ready for photoshoot.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment with IT, Supply Chain, Pattern Making, and Production on timelines and product launches

  • Translate relevant trends into concrete product concepts and seasonal style proposals

  • Drive prototype development in close collaboration with Pattern Making and Production

  • Source and test fabrics, yarns, trims, and components for product development

  • Resolve development and production issues, including material deviations and production challenges

  • Maintain accurate product documentation, BOMs, and tech packs

About You

  • 2–5 years of experience in a technical product development role within apparel

  • Solid knowledge of materials, production methods, and quality standards.

  • You have proven experience working with menswear clothing

  • Hands-on experience working with garment manufacturers and suppliers

  • Structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable at juggling multiple product categories.

  • Strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional collaboration

  • Comfortable working with Adobe Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

  • Experience with knitwear is a plus, but not a requirement

  • Curious, proactive, and motivated by high-quality products and continuous improvement

What We Offer

  • A key role in shaping and launching new products at a fast-growing menswear brand

  • A supportive, ambitious, and innovation-driven team

  • Competitive salary and benefits

  • A flexible working environment (Wednesdays are typically “work from anywhere” days)

  • Office based in the heart of Copenhagen

Working at
Son of a Tailor

Since the beginning of mass production a hundred years ago, the clothing industry has not treated its people, products or our planet well. The arrival of e-commerce, with its increased return rates and squeezed margins, only caused worse conditions and more waste in an already careless industry. Son of a Tailor has changed this. Through technology and a lean supply chain, we are fundamentally changing how apparel is made. We have no inventories, always do custom fit on demand, we create much less waste, and reconnect the link between those who make the garments and those who wear them. We are a tech-forward fashion company. We have 100,000+ customers around the world, a fantastic team in Denmark and Portugal and we get great reviews by GQ, Esquire, Trustpilot and Highsnobiety.
