Chief Experience Officer at TechBBQ

Salary Competitive

Are you passionate about startups and can you pitch to CEOs at some of the world’s largest companies and organizations? If so, you might be the one to help make TechBBQ Europe's leading event and Copenhagen the center of innovation.

TechBBQ is a non-profit NGO that hosts one of Europe’s largest events for startups and tech in Copenhagen, with 10,000 participants. The event features 500 speakers from around the world, selected from startups, companies, organizations, investors, experts, and enthusiasts.

Our mission is to create a strong ecosystem in Copenhagen with many partners, where an organization like ours acts as the glue that brings everyone together. TechBBQ helps by attracting some of the world’s most interesting people to Copenhagen once a year to share the latest knowledge about entrepreneurship, innovation, and tech.

We are looking for our new Chief Experience Officer, who will join us on the journey to create Europe’s best startup event in Copenhagen and build a network of potential speakers who should come to Copenhagen to share their knowledge with the entire Danish ecosystem at TechBBQ.

At TechBBQ, you’ll be part of a small, ambitious team full of team spirit and entrepreneurial energy. We believe work should be fun, and the best results come from collaboration. We also believe there is huge potential in innovative entrepreneurs and passionate people who develop new solutions for the world.

Together with a skilled team and 200 volunteers, you’ll be responsible for creating an event with exciting speakers, unique user experiences, networking opportunities, partnerships, great PR, and much more—making TechBBQ one of the best in Europe.

Your background is less important than your results. You may work in outreach and events at a large company or consultancy, but miss the camaraderie of a smaller organization working for a better world. Or you might work in a startup organization and want to be at the heart of Denmark’s network of founders and investors. Perhaps you work internationally and want to come to Copenhagen and experience one of the world’s most exciting and creative cities. The role of CXO at TechBBQ rarely opens up, so it’s hard to know exactly what profile fits best right now.

Your responsibilities:
We are a flexible organization with a strong leadership team and will adjust your duties to your qualifications, experience, and interests.
We also do not expect you to cover all areas from day one. The most important thing is your ambition to build a strong international network and execute one of Europe’s best events within a year or two. Your three most important tasks are:

  • Be the international face of TechBBQ and sell the event to CEOs in global companies, organizations, funds, etc.
  • Be the beacon in the TechBBQ team responsible for creating an event with unique experiences for 10,000 participants.
  • Be part of a committed leadership team responsible for building a professional and well-run organization.

Qualifications:
We expect you to have a relevant education, leadership experience, and ideally knowledge of entrepreneurship. What’s most important is your passion for our mission to strengthen Copenhagen’s ecosystem and your willingness to help execute our event. We also hope you can check some of these boxes:

  • Are proactive, full of ideas, and see opportunities to develop TechBBQ
  • Are not afraid to reach out to potential partners and speakers
  • Are results-oriented, engaged, and focused on making a difference
  • Are self-driven, responsible, and solutions-oriented
  • Are a team player, good colleague, and inspiring leader for your team

We offer:

  • An exciting and challenging job that makes a difference for Copenhagen and Europe
  • Networking with some of the world’s most exciting companies and organizations
  • Travel around the world to meet key personalities who should come to TechBBQ
  • Engaged colleagues with a relaxed and supportive atmosphere
  • An organization that values diversity and supports good family life, for example with small children
  • A flexible workplace focused on results rather than hierarchy

Salary & employment conditions:
Salary and employment are based on qualifications. As a non-profit NGO, we cannot match international corporate salaries, but our work is full of meaning, community, and positive experiences.
Work hours are 37 hours a week with flexible frameworks, but also peak periods leading up to TechBBQ in late August. We have offices at Matrikel1 on Højbro Plads.
