Møbelsnedker-Instrumentbygger / Furniture-Instrument Maker

Salary Competitive
Equity To be negotiated
  • Does Building pianos in a modern way sound interesting to you ?

  • Do you consider yourself a precision woodworker and like other "Maker" stuff as well?

  • Are you a Do'er ?

  • Do you see solutions rather than problems ?

  • Are you a furniture designer with a strong passion for music and interest in pianos ? Or maybe a piano technician with passion for furniture design ?

We are looking for someone with a strong background within building furniture or similar, with a strong sense for aesthetics and manufacturing and with the passion for music and the ambition to understand piano's to the fullest.

A fascination for automation and optimization of production processes should be firmly recognizable within yourself, and serve as an addition to your liking of building stuff with the tools at hand and the focus on getting stuff done, rather that staying in the theoretical dimension all the time. Building prototypes and designing processes as well as doing the same thing over and over again should not scare you at all. Doing the actual building work like operating the machines and doing assembly work will be a large part of your daily routine.

You will be responsible for making prototypes and "special orders" from customers, as well as the workshop, the student helpers and parts of product development. You will be offered chances to learn and improve your skills where needed.

Keybird Instruments IVS is a start-up, continuously developing a lightweight and more practical acoustic piano. We started developing a lightweight acoustic piano, hoping to offer the world a more practical stringed keyboard instrument, without compromising on acoustic sound. We now have our first model ready and landed a deal with the worlds largest piano factory. This means that we no longer need to think about how to mass produce and can instead focus on becoming really good at R&D, design and becoming a strong Brand with a strong focus on Nordic design and quality. This is where you come in and help Keybird secure product quality and innovation, which will also translate to our cooperation with the factory.

Keybird has a large waiting list of customers and leads, without doing any marketing so far. If all our leads convert, we will be well over our target of 4-5 mio DKK in revenue this year. We want to see how far we can get with direct sales through our own webshop and communication channels, and meanwhile start to look into retail strategies for in a couple of years.

Many things are happening, so if you like the process of starting a company and all the little side things that happen in such a process, that will be to your advantage (and ours as well). You are expected to be a multi-tasker, always up for showing the good example and to jump in wherever help is needed to reach our goals.

Our ideal candidate:

  • is ambitious and organized

  • is down to earth and happy to build stuff and use their hands

  • has extensive experience with precision woodwork and interest in Design and CAD

  • Is a do'er, pragmatic, with a very high drive to get things done

  • has affinity with music and pianos in particular

  • is good at multitasking

  • takes honor in fast and qualitative work, within agreed time frames

  • likes innovation in general and is good at thinking out of the box

  • Is a good communicator (values open and uncomplicated interaction)

  • is fluent in English and preferably Danish as well

  • is flexible and eager to learn

You can become partner in the company. The ambition to become a driving force should be present.

Working at
Keybird Instruments

Keybird Instruments is developing a lightweight acoustic piano to help piano enthusiasts play with their preferred sound (acoustic) with practicality and price comparable to that of digital pianos. Over 75% of piano players prefer an acoustic sound, yet most play digital because of price, size, and weight. We want to combine the best of both worlds. We can offer an acoustic piano that weighs only 43+ 16 kg, while only occupying half a square meter of valuable living space. It can be transported in normal cars. The first model has a slightly reduced amount of keys (just like many digital keyboards) having all the keys for pop and jazz but also most of the classical music for the first five years in music school. We thus have a strong focus on sound quality, rather than loudness, and we can reach the low price due to automated production in the worlds largest factory. We started this because we needed it for ourselves and saw the need for others. We asked all the piano enthusiasts we could reach and get the interest in our product confirmed. The huge market of acoustic and digital piano (we combine the benefits) is what keeps us on pace to provide an excellent alternative to digital piano's, which often get boring in the long run (We're just sharing our customer insights here ;)
