Organic Basics is looking for an experienced and ambitious CMO that can translate our inclusive and purpose-driven vision and culture into a dialogue-focused relationship with our customers. This position requires you to take leadership in questioning, developing, and implementing a long-term purpose-driven brand position and marketing strategy for Organic Basics.


The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world. Courage and teamwork are crucial for humankind to successfully address the climate crisis. Organic Basics is not only a direct-to-consumer brand but an organization with a purpose that wants to be proactive in finding new solutions that can help build a better tomorrow and inspire change across an industry as a whole. In Organic Basics we’re working with a transparent way of communicating and are always working to get a deeper and better understanding of what we are doing, how we are doing it, and why we are doing it which should always be reflected in our brand. Often, it's a complex process, and it’s important to communicate this in a way that people can connect with and make sense of.

As our Chief Marketing Officer, you will:

  • Become part of the top management in Organic Basics, where you will be working closely with the CEO and the rest of the management. You will be unifying our partnerships-, performance- and creative team into one marketing team, unifying our cross-media and omnichannel presence.

  • Develop and align all marketing efforts with the overall mission and purpose of Organic Basics; to build a globally market and thought-leading organization within sustainable fashion (smallest possible footprint with biggest possible environmental impact).

  • Develop a unique and differentiated brand position as platform for all brand-building activities, marketing, and sales efforts

  • Develop a long term marketing strategy outlining brand, marketing, and sales KPI’s, market segments and target groups, channel mix, campaign, and presence communication

  • Based on the marketing strategy, Implement a marketing engine that can support the customer journey from attraction to retention

  • Translate insights, data, and strategy into relevant, engaging, and thought provocative campaign communications (together with the creative director and creative team)

  • Develop and scale a long-term and authentic brand narrative

  • Unifying our marketing efforts into one marketing department of 12 highly motivated colleagues within 6 people in the creative team, 3 people in performance marketing, and 3 people in our partnership and activation team.

  • Create internal alignment on overall strategy and execution plans across the organization

  • Develop and mentor team as a capability builder where you lead and inspire the team and make us smarter as an organization

Desired Background

  • +10 years of relevant experience; Ideally with proven experience from Direct-to-consumer brand and/or with a purpose-driven organization

  • Strong Leadership experience - you deeply care about the people you work with and will be leading and growing a marketing team of 11 purpose-driven colleagues.

  • A big plus to have experience from a known and loved international or global brand

  • Demonstrated track record of developing innovative process and approach to scaling marketing and brand efforts internationally

  • Deep experience and understanding of brand-building activities and how to merge this with performance-driven, commercial goals

  • Insights and data-driven approach to understanding and mapping the customer journey

  • Understanding of how to assess and implement relevant marketing technology and platforms to support the customer purchasing process with the right communication at the right time on the right platform

  • Motivated by making a change in the second most polluting industry in the world and help create even more transparency in how the fashion industry work

  • We believe in decentralized management so bonus if you have experience in working with a Teal organization or with holacracy
