Mange patienter føler sig alene imellem behandlingerne og savner nogen, der virkelig forstår deres situation. Sundhedsvæsenet har sjældent ressourcer til at tilbyde kontinuerlig følelsesmæssig støtte. Det efterlader mange uden den støtte, de har brug for i hverdagen, og det påvirker både livskvalitet, tryghed og deres mulighed for at mestre sygdomsforløbet. Grupperne er små, trygge, lukkede digitale grupper baseret på alder, køn, diagnose og eventuelt prognose. Her kan man spejle sig i andre, stille spørgsmål og dele tanker, personlige råd og erfaringer i et lukket rum med maksimalt otte deltagere. BeSammen er testet to gange på Herlev og Gentofte Hospital. Det første forløb fandt sted i det medicinske brystkræftambulatorium, og det andet på Afdelingen for Kræftbehandling. Testforløbene viste, at 88 % savnede et fællesskab og oprettede sig med det samme, og at 54 % oplevede mindre ensomhed efter at være blevet en del af BeSammen. Forløbene viste også, at BeSammen bliver opfattet som et trygt og fortroligt sted, hvor man kan dele tanker, erfaringer og støtte hinanden på egne præmisser.
