Normative

Our Mission: Normative is here to make known and reduce the sustainability impact of all economic activities on the planet. We provide science-based carbon accounting software and tailored advice from net zero experts, enabling companies to reduce their carbon footprints. Our Story: Normative is rooted in climate research. In 2013, co-founder Kristian Rönn was working at Oxford University, simulating the consequences of climate change. The results showed that global warming would cause extreme human suffering, motivating Kristian to leave academia and take action. He joined forces with Adam Wamai Egesa and Robin Undall-Behrend, and in 2014 the world’s first carbon accounting engine was born to help humanity achieve net zero emissions and reverse the trajectory of climate change. We now have offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, and London, and are actively hiring talent to join the mission. Today, companies from around the world trust our carbon accounting engine to help them reduce their carbon footprint. We partner with leading climate change organisations including the UN, to deliver actionable sustainability intelligence and have received a grant from Google. We are backed by some of the world’s most significant climate investors, and are the official software provider for the UN-backed SME Climate Hub initiative through which thousands of small businesses have committed to net zero. Our Team: We are a global team working to solve a global problem. We’re headquartered in Stockholm, with offices in Copenhagen and London as well as remote team members located all over the world. We have spoken at the World Economic Forum, consulted the European Commission, and worked with the United Nations to develop a new standard for emissions accounting. We come from many walks of life, but we’re united in one mission: to help humanity achieve net zero emissions. Every employee at Normative plays a valuable role in reducing business carbon emissions.

SurplusMap

Introduction to SurplusMap SurplusMap is on a mission to revolutionize the way we develop and optimize EV charging infrastructure. By leveraging advanced geospatial tools and machine learning models, we empower energy companies, local utilities, and charge point operators to make informed decisions about site selection and utilization prediction. This ensures the efficient and effective deployment of charging stations, addressing a critical need in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market. Our secret advantage is our ability to draw on Norway's leadership in EV infrastructure, combined with our collaborations with top-tier partners like Google and Bentley Systems, to deliver cutting-edge solutions. The challenge we face is significant: the current pace of infrastructure development is insufficient to meet the future demands of the booming EV market. The market is highly fragmented, causing inconvenience for EV users and difficulties for energy companies and local utilities trying to optimize their investments. For instance, the EU mandates the installation of 6,000 new charging points per week by 2030, a target that is far from being met with the current rate of deployment. This gap presents a substantial opportunity for innovative solutions like SurplusMap to make a real difference. At SurplusMap, we focus on ensuring our customers invest wisely. Our sophisticated, map-based software integrates geospatial data and machine learning algorithms to pinpoint optimal sites for new charging stations. This means our clients can invest in the right locations, install the ideal number of chargers, and maintain high utilization rates over time. By doing so, we help them maximize their investments and build a robust EV infrastructure network that meets the demands of the future. We are driven by a vision of cleaner, more sustainable cities. Electric vehicles are crucial in reducing air pollution and creating healthier urban environments. However, the key to this transition lies in the efficient deployment of charging infrastructure that provides greater flexibility to the energy grid, allowing for more renewable energy sources to be integrated. At SurplusMap, we are passionate about facilitating this energy transition. By optimizing EV charging infrastructure, we help accelerate the shift to cleaner energy, positively impacting both the environment and the communities we live in. Join us in our mission to create a greener, more sustainable future through innovative technology and strategic planning. Together, we can drive the change needed to make our cities cleaner and our energy systems more resilient.

Clausal

Clausal. Helsinki, Finland. Onboard autonomy for GNSS-denied operations. Satellite navigation can no longer be assumed. Jamming and spoofing are routine, and uncrewed systems increasingly have to navigate, hold position and understand what they are looking at without a GNSS fix and without a reliable link home. Clausal builds the onboard autonomy that keeps working when that happens. Our runtime handles absolute positioning, navigation and object detection entirely onboard, using multi-modal sensing rather than satellite signals. Getting that to work in a lab is one thing. Getting it inside the size, weight and power budget of a small uncrewed platform, robust enough for real conditions, is the actual engineering problem. That constraint shapes how we build. We train and simulate at scale in Europe, then compress the result until it fits the target hardware. Models, weights and customer data stay in Europe. What we work on: machine learning and computer vision for positioning and detection. Embedded software and model compression for constrained hardware. Hardware and sensor integration. Simulation infrastructure. Systems engineering and go-to-market. Who we are: a 25 head strong team in Helsinki. Our founder and CEO, Tatu Ylönen, invented the SSH protocol and built SSH Communications Security into a public company. The rest of the team comes from European space, telecoms and AI companies, with patents across AI, cybersecurity and aerospace. We work in defence and dual-use. Our technology is developed for military and security customers as well as civilian uncrewed systems, and we are open about that. If it is not for you, better to know now. Why join: deep tech with a short path to the field. Problems that are genuinely unsolved. A team small enough that your work is visible in the product, and customers who tell you quickly whether it works. Finland based. clausal.com
