ABOUT — Founded in 2010, Søuld’s mission is to produce functional, sustainable and beautiful alternatives to traditional building materials that can improve sustainable development in the construction industry, whilst also improving human health and well-being. For over a decade Søuld has collaborated with ecologists, manufacturers and designers to develop acoustics from eelgrass—an abundant, renewable local sea plant with deep roots in Danish culture—to offer the industry a high performing alternative to synthetic options. Søuld’s work has led to the revitalization of the 400-year-old eelgrass tradition, to the protection of the eelgrass ecosystem and to the material’s optimization for sustainable 21st Century building. We enable the green shift to happen in new markets! TioTech is a Norwegian producer of titania (TiO2) nanomaterials and a developer of titania-based technology. We know how to optimise the production process and properties of titania nanoparticles. After successfully developing and commercialising a series of photocatalytic surface treatment products (www.joma-int.com), we are directing our R&D efforts towards a new area; the use of titania as anode-material in Lithium-ion batteries (LIB). A battery with our material on the anode will charge faster, last longer, be safer and tolerate temperature variation better than conventional batteries which have graphite on the anode, and outcompete LTO-batteries on capacity. The development work takes place in our in-house laboratory in Bergen, where our dedicated team (Hjørdis, Marthe, Rob, Anders) play around with titania, giving life to innovative solutions.
