We know how to optimise the production process and properties of titania nanoparticles. After successfully developing and commercialising a series of photocatalytic surface treatment products (www.joma-int.com), we are directing our R&D efforts towards a new area; the use of titania as anode-material in Lithium-ion batteries (LIB). A battery with our material on the anode will charge faster, last longer, be safer and tolerate temperature variation better than conventional batteries which have graphite on the anode, and outcompete LTO-batteries on capacity. The development work takes place in our in-house laboratory in Bergen, where our dedicated team (Hjørdis, Marthe, Rob, Anders) play around with titania, giving life to innovative solutions.

Emberly is a Stavanger-based startup founded in 2020. The company was born out of a desire to help people learn better and to help them manage information overload. Our product is a knowledge library, but in contrast to other solutions, we help you organize your knowledge into what we call "knowledge maps". Traditional solutions based on tags and search are not adequate due to the simple fact that it requires using the language center of the brain, this requires you to break your chain of thought before you can even start looking for your resources. Emberly in contrast, lets you use spatial navigation to find what you are looking for. Which is far more efficient.Not to mention the fact that by creating and using this breakdown of topics, you automatically gain a far better understanding of the concepts you are working on. Bile duct cancer is an aggressive form of cancer with an extremely poor overall five-year survival rate of just 2-5 %. Classified as an orphan disease, annual incidence in Europe and the United States of 15-22,000 patients, and a significantly higher incidence in Asia, makes it a major player and the deadliest of the gastrointestinal cancers. Only a small number of patients are eligible for a complete surgical resection by local resection or liver transplantation, and more than 50% of these relapse. The vast majority are treated by gemcitabine-based palliative chemotherapy with a life expectancy of 11 months, and five-year survival rate of zero %. Thus, there is an urgent and unmet medical need to develop new and better treatment strategies for these patients. The innovations developed by Seald are a result of adopting a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of bile duct cancer, based on extensive drug sensitivity assays on living cancer cells, molecular biomarkers, DNA sequencing, extensive bioinformatics analyses and zebrafish models. Sealds’s holistic approach is unique with possible modes of action that can be used on other solid cancers.
