Alvar Pet is a Helsinki-based startup on a mission to minimise the carbon pawprint. Dog ownership is rapidly growing – this year, there are more puppies born in Finland than babies. Dogs have become our family members, and we are ready to invest in them: the money spent in pets has more than doubled within the last decade. We worry about where the pet industry is heading. Dogs are pampered with more and more stuff, and fed with meatier food than necessary. Opulence doesn’t make a dog any happier, and the overconsumption happens at the expense of the environment. Pups bring so much joy to our everyday. That’s why owning a dog should not be a choice against the climate – and that’s why we founded Alvar. We founded Alvar to joint together the growing popularity of pets and the growing popularity of eco-aware lifestyles. We do it by offering (easy for customers, need-based for dogs, impactful for environment) sustainable solutions to conscious pup owners.

At Starship, we are redefining how goods reach the places in which we live. We see a future where a new generation of convenience services becomes available to everyone – made possible by our awesome autonomous neighbourhood robots. Freelancerhub helps IT agencies to manage their freelancers.   Freelancerhub makes it easy to find the best freelancer for the customer's needs. At its core is an innovative, self-learning algorithm which clusters synonyms and establishes relationships between technologies. Thereby it is the first platform that can find matches in related data, which hugely increases the chances of finding relevant freelancers. Around this algorithm a platform has been developed managing the data of freelancers. Many skilled IT people excel at their work, but are lost between thousands of CVs. Freelance agencies rarely use more than 10% of the freelancers in their database. There lies a huge potential in activating the remaining 90%. Our mission is to enable IT freelance agencies effectively to find the best matches between a given task and their CV database. Thereby the focus can shift from finding any match to finding the best.
