With EcoTree, it is easy and accessible both for individuals and businesses to contribute to the reforestation and preservation of our common green heritage. EcoTree enables everybody to become a tree owner. EcoTree has a team of forest experts that take care of planting and maintaining the forests in which your trees are located. You, being the owner of the trees, are entitled to receive 100% of the revenue generated from the wood sale when your trees have reached maturity, cut, and the forest is renewed. EcoTree implements a “close to nature” forestry management plan in which the preservation of the biodiversity in the forest is kept at the heart of our activities, and for every tree that is cut, EcoTree plants three new ones. The idea behind EcoTree came up when a group of French childhood friends went to Copenhagen on a trip in 2014. There were many things that the group of friends adored about the Scandinavian lifestyle, but one thing that especially struck them was the well-functioning bottle deposit system. On each can, glass, or plastic bottle you purchase in Denmark you pay a small premium as a deposit that you get back when returning the empty bottles and cans to the supermarket. Consequently, the cities are clean and society more sustainable. This simple idea of rewarding sustainability led to the foundation of EcoTree. Approximately 600,000 newly planted trees later, the idea that was born in Scandinavia returns to its place of origin, as EcoTree has opened its new international office in Copenhagen in September 2019.

Conceiving through donation is often a complicated, highly regulated, time consuming, impersonal and expensive process. Because of this many future parents and donors go to the private market, however the current solutions in place are chaotic, low quality and lack safety. Y factor is working to remove the majority of these barriers. We have built an app that provides a transparent, accessible, and personal way for people to achieve their family dreams through peer to peer sperm donation, connecting future parents with donors. Proteins.1 is a Finnish biotech startup on a mission to make diseases detectable years before symptoms appear — when treatment is most effective and survival rates are highest. The Problem For diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's, the body releases early warning proteins into the bloodstream long before any clinical symptoms emerge. The problem is that these signals are so faint that today's blood tests simply cannot detect them. By the time a diagnosis is made, the disease has often already progressed to a stage where treatment options are limited and outcomes are far worse. Our Solution We've developed a breakthrough technology called Affinity-Mediated Transport (AMT) — think of it as bringing PCR-like amplification to proteins. Just as PCR revolutionized the detection of genetic material, our platform makes individual disease-signaling proteins visible from a standard blood sample, at sensitivities up to 1,000 times beyond what current gold-standard diagnostics can achieve. The technology originated at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, has been validated through EU breakthrough innovation funding, and is protected by granted patents in both the EU and the US.
