Pharmasum Therapeutics AS

New drugs for treating diseases of Down syndrome. More than 1% of the global GDP is spent on nursing demented people, and the number requiring nursing will triple within 2050. The disease is progressive, leading to death. There is no current cure available, only symptomatic treatments. Individuals born with Down syndrome have a more than 10x risk of developing dementia as well as a host of other diseases including diabetes. Our drug target, DYRK1A is an enzyme found on chromosome 21, and is considered a key factor determining developmental and medical challenges faced by individuals with Down. The enzyme interacts with multiple biological mechanisms involved in Alzheimer’s and autoimmune diseases. Advanced drug designUsing advanced drug design technologies, we have designed a potent DYRK1A inhibitor drug, PST-900. A use and substance of matter patent have been applied for. The company is currently working on chemical Lead Optimisation with 8 full-time medicinal chemists contracted.Financing and milestonesThe Company raised NOK 5 million in 2015 and 8.8 MNOK in 2016/2017, matching non-dilutive research (BIA) and business grants (Innovation Norway). We demonstrated Proof of Principle in a model system for Alzheimer’s disease in 2Q2016. We have also demonstrated that our drug is capable of reversing diabetes in an animal model. Together with clinical and regulatory advisors, we have identified an important unmet need for a drug to treat newly diagnosed diabetes. We will use this indication to quickly progress to market and from there develop analogous drug molecules in Alzheimer’s disease, focused especially in Down syndrome. Funding soughtThe current funding round will raise 15+ MNOK to fund the progression to the final Development Candidate during 2018. Following this, further funding will be sought to perform toxicology/safety and Phase 1 clinical studies. Zirius Kompetanse AS

Zirius Kompetanse is a two-year-old company that delivers all training for the users of Zirius ERP.  We specialize in e-learning, but also hold courses at different locations in Norway on the system Zirius, accounting, VAT rules, and changes. As Zirius expands, so do we, so now we also will cover payroll-system, and HR and will make a training program for new hires, etc. We use Moodle as our LMS (Learning Management System), and use a local provider in Lillehammer, who is the only Norwegian Moodle partner.   We also make promo-videoes for Zirius, our customers, and other companies. Zirius Kompetanse started with Sissel Rogne as Manager, and a board consisting of the owners, which is Zirius and a few of the sales offices. I have hired one person for Project Management and video production. I have a vision of doing social entrepreneurship and have a good dialog with NAV. The person I hired came through a training program in NAV and ended up getting a work contract. We have built a good course portfolio, and are ready to start a more active sales process, which we need more marketing funds to do, and we need to upgrade our LMS, make integrations with other sites, and hire one more person to work with course development.

TERP

Software is eating education. Technology is used to modernise education. TERP has redefined the concept of a book by making it interactive. In its easiest form interaction can be films and animations integrated in a book. Tests and feedback on learning is one step further. In its most complex form, interaction is customised books generated for each reader, based on mapped preferences used as input in algorithms. The first book using this technology will have 114,000 potential versions. The TERP technology is not only redefining the concept of a book. It is interrupting the value chain in the industry. The technology provides a new and dynamic way of distribution. Competitors trying to copy the technology, not only has to figure out the code, they must change the way of doing business.

Om prosjektet – fra slam til brenselDet skal bygges og utvikles et mobilt prosessanlegg som gjør slam/avfall fra havbruksnæringen om til brennbart materiale.Brenselet vil det ha et stort potensiale i sementproduksjon eller fjernvarmeanlegg. Vi vil også selge tørket slam tilbake til havbruksnæringen/oppdrettsanlegg som energi. Prosjektet er i oppstartsfasen og skal ha fokus på teknologiutvikling, samt etablering av løsninger for slamhåndtering, mat- og bioavfall.Våre kunder er klekkerier, smoltanlegg, testanlegg i sjø (lukkede merder), sementproduksjon, fjernvarmeanlegg. Vi har og det samme segmentet i utlandsmarkedet.

Spect8

Spect8 is a norwegian tech startup with a mission to help sports organizations, pro-athletes and sponsors that don’t have enough time, capacity, or the necessary skills to reach their potential in growing fan engagement and commercial value. Due to the power of association among consumers, brands allocate an increasing amount of their advertising budgets towards sports teams and athletes. To measure the value of a sponsorship, sponsors rely on manual measurements and expensive consulting services. At the same time, athletes, clubs, and federations are left with few resources to decide what their commercial value is, and often forfeit revenue (and funding for their sport) by underselling their commercial value. To solve this problem, we have developed a tool called Foqus. Foqus is an easy-to-use machine learning tool created for sports teams and individual athletes to determine their commercial value for sponsorships, and for brands to manage and measure multiple agreements. We are currently working with Norsk Toppfotball, sports associations, clubs and and several brands, and are off to a good start to reach our goal of creating a new industry standard for how sponsorship value is created, measured, and driven. The existing team consists of three business developers with expertise in strategy, marketing, sponsorship, data and analysis. In addition, we have associated development teams with both front-end, back-end and database expertise. We have recently become a part of StartupLab's Accelerator program, are supported by Innovation Norway and have ambitions to scale our business both nationally and internationally in the coming years. We therefore wish to expand our team with a skilled developer who also wants to make a professional career as an entrepreneur. The CTO will have the overall responsibility for the further development and scaling of our core product, Foqus, as well as the development of new tools and concepts going forward.

Light Bikes AS

We offer a unique opportunity to rent an electric bike via an app. The bike is designed to be safe, simple and efficient for all users. With our system we can control where the bikes must be parked, so that it does not hinder pedestrians or riders. This is called HUB/geo fence, which is both flexible and tidy. We are the first in the market with this idea for electric bike rentals run by local founders from Oslo. Our goal is to create a web of transport connected to all districts in Oslo. This is something we can achieve, because we already have good relations with the urban environment agency, as well as a couple of districts that are interested in this transport opportunity .

Greenphones

Greenphones provides an end to end solution for to extend the lifetime of mobile phones and tablets. Through the provision of a simple user friendly interface allowing private individuals to trade-in their used phones where the value can either be used for the purchase of an upgraded phone or paid out in cash. We saw a clear need in the market to help the consumer and at the same time reduce the number of new mobiles being introduced into the market. As such for each and every new mobile 'not sold' sold in the market, we reduce the CO2 footprint by approximately 55kg. We estimate that we can extend the lifetime of any mobile between 250% and 300% Inspiration for your startup description There are other firms selling used mobile/tablets, but very few that offer the level of service trade-in value. The founders who previously worked with used IT equipment saw that the used mobile market was also in need of a solution. Greenphones has a number of strategies to expand beyond the core business to enhance the circular economy and is constantly in search of ways to support climate initiatives.
