Squarehead Technology provides advanced microphone array systems for audio capture and acoustical zoom. A microphone array  combines a large number of individual microphones to create a highly directional audio output.  The challenge of isolating and capturing desired sound in noisy environments is a well-known problem. Our products allow an operator to zoom in on a particular area and record sound in much the same way a camera zooms in a scene. This is achieved by using sophisticated digital signal processing of audio from several hundred microphones combined into a single system. All audio channels are high quality digital signals that can be recorded without any loss.

Mitt Barnebarn er en seniorhjelp-bedrift i Trondheim. Vi hjelper hjemmeboende seniorer med det praktiske i hverdagen: renhold, hagearbeid, småreparasjoner, handling og digital hjelp. Navnet sier det meste: vi stiller opp slik et barnebarn ville gjort. Et menneske på døra, god teknologi i ryggen. Problemet vi jobber med er at mange eldre faller mellom familie som ikke rekker det, og en kommune med vedtak og ventelister. De trenger trygg, fast hjelp uten byråkrati. Det er det vi gir dem, med samme hjelper hver gang. Det som gjør oss spesielle: hjelperne våre er unge mennesker, og for mange er dette den første jobben. Hvert besøk blir et generasjonsmøte der en ungdom og en senior faktisk blir kjent. Vi tror unge kan styrke eldreomsorgen og avlaste en presset kommune, og vi bygger en bedrift som beviser det. Vi er et ungt team som bygger noe fra bunnen, og vi tenker stort: å vokse by for by, og gjøre kontoret til en hub der unge får prøve egne ideer, lære ferdigheter de tar med seg videre, og bygge noe som betyr noe. ABchar is developing a new type of pyrolysis reactor, affordable heating and the possibility of small-scale biochar production, adapted to agriculture.. This will help achieve the goal of a 40% reduction in emissions from the agricultural sector. What is pyrolysis? Simply put, this is the heating of an organic material without access to oxygen. This leads to a series of reactions that ultimately result in 3 main products; biochar, oil and gas. We want to utilize the biochar in this process. The oil and gas will be burned and the heat from this will be used to dry grain, heat barns, greenhouses, residential buildings and other things that need heat on a farm. Why pyrolysis and biochar? Plants absorb CO2 from the air around us through photosynthesis. They are actually extremely good at this too. The residual product is mainly oxygen and the plant material. The great thing about pyrolysis is that we are able to separate water, oxygen and hydrogen from the plant material and we are left with more or less pure carbon 80% +. This is carbon from the air! If we take this coal and spread it on our agricultural land, it will be stored there for up to 1000 years and perhaps longer. In some cases, the soil will become more fertile and less vulnerable to periods of too much or too little water.

We are ready to play a key role in increasing vaccination rates and improving public health. Dr. Arne Søraas, an experienced infectious disease specialist at Oslo University Hospital and Flokki, has witnessed the consequences of missing vaccinations up close. This insight inspired the idea of Flokki - a simple and practical tool that allows patients to assess their vaccination status and receive prescriptions from doctors, all with a few taps on their mobile phones (read more). Maintaining immunity in the adult population, especially after the age of 65, is crucial. The pneumococcal vaccine is particularly important for protecting the elderly from serious diseases. We know how to optimise the production process and properties of titania nanoparticles. After successfully developing and commercialising a series of photocatalytic surface treatment products (www.joma-int.com), we are directing our R&D efforts towards a new area; the use of titania as anode-material in Lithium-ion batteries (LIB). A battery with our material on the anode will charge faster, last longer, be safer and tolerate temperature variation better than conventional batteries which have graphite on the anode, and outcompete LTO-batteries on capacity. The development work takes place in our in-house laboratory in Bergen, where our dedicated team (Hjørdis, Marthe, Rob, Anders) play around with titania, giving life to innovative solutions.
