Excalibur Startup Academy

Arcticode AS

The Company Arcticode is developing an easy to use mobile order and payment service to help food and beverage venues capture feedback while at the same time creating better loyalty from guests by incentivizing feedback through loyalty points. The issue We solve an issue common in the bar, venue and club scene. Customer insight and feedback. There is often less dialogue between guests and staff, and guests these days demand more and more from every visit. This occurs especially in the younger generation starting with millennials and younger. They constantly seek the best experience and will move on from a venue quite fast if expectations are not meet. Most venues in both the food and beverage sector could benefit from having a simple solution to better capture feedback while at the same time providing a simple mobile order and payment solution. The Solution Our solution combines ordering and feedback into one service. The service lets you order and pay while out for food and drinks with your phone as this is becoming the preferred way today while also capturing feedback in-app which provides cash points. These can then be used for discounted meals, snacks, goods, drinks etc. (not alcoholic beverages – Norway edition). We create a win-win situation of having guests leave feedback while also being enrolled in a loyalty program which creates higher interest and recurring visits. Why we do what we do Having worked in the food and beverage service sector you may encounter a lot of less friendly feedback at times, but this is often individuals who do not represent the majority of guests. But when you just don’t know this can make a workday long and tiresome, and rarely inspire anyone to provide a better service. But regardless, you start to understand your guests even better, you can facilitate for an even better service and experience, and this will in turn create a better day for both staff and guest. As a guest, you simply want what you came for, a good experience and a good service. Regardless of what the situation for the staff is. Having a simple way to both order and leave feedback while gaining something from it will create a mutually beneficial situation. And that’s what we have in common. We all want to have a good experience. This is why we do what we do. To create the best possible outcome for both.

Encryptia

Encryptia is developing an education in programming to help young people below 30 year to get an education and a job, with starting to play a game.(our course) Many young people are not in education or employees (NEETS), they are sitting at home and gaming. The lack of IT developers are increasing. We are working with UN Sustainability Goals no 8 and 10, to help more young people back to work, and to cover the gap of IT developers in Norway and the Nordic. Encryptia is togheter with seven young adults below 30, building a solution like a game. Made by gamers for gamers- to be motivated, fun and fast way of learning. The founder of Encryptia has a background from large tech Companies in Norway. Working with recruitment and employer branding, she learned that the lack of IT developers was and will remain a growing problem in the future. At the same time, her son was without a job and education and spent a lot of time in front of the PC screen. Then the idea was born,that also solves some socially critical problems. (more IT developers and more young people >30 year back to work)

IML Aeroseal AS

We use a new technology for sealing ventilation duct from the inside. The technology was developed in the US in 1994, but didn't reach the European market until 2015. In 2016 ImL Aeroseal started up in Finland, and as of September 1st 2020 we are breaking into the Norwegian market. Our product solves the issues with the traditional sealing of ventilation ducts; using tape and acryllic sealant to try and plug the leaks. Instead we build up a pressure inside the system and inject a small particle gas that finds all the small leakages and seals them. Not only is it faster, but also alot more effective than the previous method, which in turn makes it much more financially beneficent. With a ventilation system that has little to no leakage you extend the life of the engines and maximize the output of the fans. In addition you get cleaner air in the serviced areas. I became a part of this startup because with my 15 years of experience in the ventilation industry I can truly see the advantages of this method to improve the effectiveness of the ventilation systems and enhance the indoor air quality.

Become Legends

Become Legends is a esports team and brand and with headquarters in Norway. The team rapidly gained a foothold in the Fortnite scene and has built a stellar reputation after having participated in the Fortnite World Cup 2019 and placing 12th with Pontus 'Tchub' Bucht and securing $150,000. The team features players from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the UK and are one of the top global contenders in Fortnite when it comes to both competitive and branding. The team consistently ranks as a top team in 2020, ranking between #1 and #3 in Europe according to Gamepedia Fortnite Power Rankings. Our vision is to be a Norwegian and Nordic esports and lifestyle brand that is exported globally, by having a continuity of purpose (strive to be the very best) and be an esports brand and image with Nordic roots that young people asipre to be a part of. From a competitive standpoint, Fortnite is the first successfull esports played on all available platforms (PC, mobile / tablet and console) and has between 500.000 and 1M players competing globally on a weekly basis. Almost all of the tournaments are ran and operated by Epic Games and they have no sponsors, meaning heavily commercially untapped currently to external brands. The teams and players own channels are the most efficient way to be seen in Fortnite. - 350 million players as of 6th June 2020 (up from 250M 20.03.2019) - 62,7% are between 18 og 34 - Around 29% of players of players are female - 70% of Fortnite players have made in-game purchases ($85 each average) - Most watched and streamed game on Twitch and YouTube 2018 & 2019 - High retention with fresh content and incentives from developer - 2020-2021 Competitive Roadmap announced - First esports successful on cross platform - Pure, commercially heavily underexposed and untapped - Average earnings in Europe for top 50 players is $80,265

You can easily find your new office using our unique filters. We start with coworking offers in Norway. In the near future we will also enter foreign markets such as Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, UK and Poland.

Kapoow AS

We are a company that is in the development of a new way of telling stories. We're creating a platform where it's possible to expand the narrative of a story from the main screen (e.g your TV) to a second screen, by using keyframe triggers and secondary screen content delivery. We're currently in a prototype aiming for MVP as the next step.
