In order to maintain Norway's position as the largest and most important ski nation in the world, climatic changes require new thinking, types of facilities, snow technologies, and strategies. HST has a letter of intent with Vestfold county to take over the Holmestrand 1862-meter car tunnel at NOK 1 to be redeveloped into a NOK 200 million all-year-around ski facility for cross country, biathlon, and Paralympics. With SIAT/NTNU and Terje, Grønmo Architects developed an opportunity study ("Mulighetsstudie" found at www.holmestrandskitunnel.no). Business and marketing plan currently at work with University College of Southeast Norway, Campus Kongsberg. Why Holmstrand? Because the town is entering into a stage of comprehensive transformation and development, merging three municipalities into a 24,000 people unit, with a number of developments and construction projects coming up downtown at the seaside during the next 5-20 years and a NOK 6,7 billion state investment in a new railway system that takes passengers to Oslo in 45 minutes. 1 million people can reach Holmestrand in one hour by railway and E18. The railway stop is 100 meters from the future ski facility, which might serve as a magnet for other developments, creating health and social conditions for people at large. With an undeveloped fjord area, there is an opportunity to create a sports hub for unique marine and ski activities. Other projects are Gjelsten's leisure island Langøya, Kullboden (1 acre), Uni Quarter (1 acre) Hakan (might have swimming and hotel facilities, an architect study to be opened this fall), new car-free and covered main street (Langgaten), high stories car and boat parking with the business opportunity, heating/cooling systems (fjernvarme) based on excess energy from ski tunnel and Hydro smelter cooling water being served by an NTNU master study, an extension of 1200 leisure boat facilities and undeveloped south town area under the name Hagemann Brygge. Hagemann, in particular, is an excellent 55,000 sq.m. seafront residential and business opportunity with an option to be developed together with the neighboring ski tunnel. The ski tunnel and Hagemann together with some of the other projects would certainly become a long-term investment opportunity.

In the autumn of 2016 was CSI Marine Cleaning AS [CSI] established and included in Validé's incubation program with our idea for a ship hull cleaner and cleaning of other structures submerges in the sea. CSI's idea and goal with this unit are to collect 100% of all bio-marine fouling that comes off of the surface while cleaning. The collected fouling will then be rendered harmless by killing all bio-marine life that is collected before returning it back to the sea. As of date, there is no ship hull cleaner that can document 100% collection of the fouling. Competitive ship hull cleaners vary in the collection of the bio-marine fouling from 25μm and upwards. The need for collection is as low as 2μm according to a study.CSI has secured letters of intent with Yanmar Co. LTD., Østerbø Maskin AS, and Optimarin AS with regard to the development of the collection system and ship hull cleaning unit. CSI has also in the letter of intent with Optimarin AS secured exclusive rights for use of their technology in our line of business. Furthermore, CSI has secured letters of intent with Teekay Shipping Norge AS and Transpetrol Tm AS stating their interest in the finalized product. They may intend to use the cleaning service if the product function as described and the service has competitive pricing.  Information about the development project: The technology for the collection system needs to be developed as a prototype. When it's developed the prototype will be fitted to Yanmar's net cleaner that will be modified for solid surfaces and connected to Optimarin's technology for filter and UV treatment. The cleaning speed is about 1500m2 per hour and is using water pressure in three rotating disks for cleaning the surfaces. iCsys AS will be engaged with implementing sensors and creating unique 3D-mapping software. iCsys will also implement autonomic features for the unit. Regarding research and documentation, we will involve Christian Michelsen Research AS that will document the effectiveness of the finalized unit. Østerbø Maskin will assist with CAD, engineering, and manufacturing of the unit.CSI intends to apply for Innovation Norway's Environmental technology program to start the development of this unit, thus searching for companies or investors willing to finance this project.

High levels of wind noise are a health and safety hazard for motorcycle riders. Noise levels can exceed 110 decibels at highway riding, but also reach dangerously high levels even at city-riding speeds. 95% of riders want a quieter helmet. Current measures to combat noise levels in helmets have yielded very limited results. DAAL Noise Control Systems is a Norwegian start-up tech company founded in 2016 by acoustician and motorcyclist Dag Loe and physicist Sigmund Birkeland. DAAL is currently developing an active noise control system (ANC) for MC helmets. Our system dampens wind noise without interfering with important traffic noises like car horns and sirens.

Diinef is a small company started in 2013 by three engineers. The business concept is sales of electronically controlled valve systems for large hydraulic motors. The valves control the connection between each individual motor cylinder and high- and low-pressure, thereby making the motors controllable and increasing power and efficiency significantly. The product is unique and belongs to the growing technology area of digital hydraulics. We have partners in the areas of motor manufacturing and maritime- and offshore equipment. Throughout 2017 we are developing and testing valves, electronics, and software to finalize the first product, and in parallel, we work with equipment manufacturers to develop application examples and methods. Diinef's founders are employees of the company. We are one Norwegian and two Danes working out of three different locations in Norway and Denmark with a business address in Kristiansand. Our ages are between 30 and 53. Electronic communication, cloud-based documentation, and some travel activity is part of our daily life. So are flexibility and self-motivation. Aid in Action is a voluntary organization that was started in 2008 by the then 19 year old Anne Louise Dæhlin (then Hübert), after visiting a poor village in Kenya. After initially helping to meet a dire need for food, Aid in Action has focused on sustainable development for the local community. We use social entrepreneurship to help poor people and children in need. We are – and want to be – a small and efficient organization that works closely with local, resourceful people in Africa. Our projects are mainly in Kenya. We are working within the areas of education, agriculture, stimulating local industry, water supply, roads, and assistance to orphans. The money we receive from our donors always goes directly to the projects, and none of it is spent on administrative costs on European side.
