These resources are often left unused, while millions of people living within the nature, are increasingly getting poorer. Holmestrand Skitunnel AS (HST) er etablert for å bygge om veitunnelen i Holmestrand til helårs skianlegg for langrenn, skiskyting og paraidrett. Det er gjennomført en mulighetsstudie under ledelse av Olafsen Prosjektadministrasjon AS i Sande, Senter for Idrettsanlegg og Teknologi (SIAT) ved NTNU i Trondheim og  Terje Grønmo Arkitekter AS i Oslo, i et nært samarbeid med Vestfold Fylkeskommune som eier tunnelen. Det er inngått i alt syv intensjonavstaler med lokale og nasjonale bedrifter om det videre arbeidet. Målet er å ta anlegget i bruk i 2019.
