Expectation in the market is, that many distribution companies will have to transform their businesses significantly in the next few years to come. Driverless vehicles are no longer science fiction. Drivers solve a lot of problems in a typical distribution company. Often they fill in all the gaps in both incomplete procedures, faulty data last minute changes in conditions etc. If, for nothing else, then in order to be able to switch to a driverless future, companies dealing with road distribution will need to digitalise their business and make both route planning and the rest of the procedures surrounding the execution of the daily business much less dependent on human intervention. The World demands less CO2 footprint from everybody – with good reason.
