UNYA Copenhagen is a volunteer-driven youth organization dedicated to empowering young people to engage with global challenges through the lens of the United Nations’ values and the Sustainable Development Goals. We create an inclusive platform where students and young professionals can learn, collaborate, and take action on issues like climate change, social inequality, peacebuilding, and innovation. We are addressing a clear and growing problem i.e. the disconnect between youth and global institutions. Many young people in Denmark care deeply about sustainability and justice but find it difficult to access meaningful opportunities to participate in international dialogue or contribute to real-world impact. This gap leaves motivated individuals without a channel to apply their energy, creativity, and ideas, while institutions miss out on fresh perspectives and engagement from the very generation that will inherit the future. UNYA Copenhagen bridges this divide by turning global ideals into local action. We organize interactive events, workshops, and panel discussions that make complex global topics accessible and relevant. Our activities are co-created by volunteers from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds who bring their own insights to the table. Through collaboration with universities, NGOs, and public institutions, we connect youth directly with experts and decision-makers, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and agency. What makes UNYA Copenhagen unique is our grassroots approach. We are not just an organization — we are a community that thrives on collective energy and creativity. Every project is designed by young people for young people, ensuring authenticity, inclusivity, and long-term motivation. We consult 100+ life science startups and projects per year through our tailored innovation programs and work for leading universities, venture capital and global deeptech NGOs and foundations.

We start with ourselves: We have weekly runs, CrossFit in the park, healthy eating, sustainable sessions, and of course also the normal casual talks and loads of fun.

ESEBA, a deep tech startup from DTU, transforms low-quality textile waste into MDF boards without binders or formaldehyde. We offer a sustainable, non-toxic alternative to traditional wood-based panels. Textile waste is a massive and growing problem in Europe – less than 1% is recycled into new products, and most ends up incinerated. At the same time, formaldehyde regulations are tightening, and deforestation pressures are increasing demand for alternatives to virgin wood. ESEBA’s mission is to enable local, circular board production through a scalable, plug-and-produce production line for furniture manufacturers.

The uMover® is a smart and usability-focused 3-wheel electrical vehicle for transporting people over shorter indoor and outdoor distances (0,5-5 km). It has been developed by us, DTU spinout CJ Company IVS, whom have built the uMover® upon a future mobility concept proposed by Continental AG (CAG). The uMover® targets employees who need to travel frequently within shorter distances, enabling them to become more efficient at work by easing their way of travel and reducing their travel time substantially. The uMover® will be a superior work-environment travel solution, as it – due to its smart design – offers the flexible advantages of walking, but with the similar speed and ease as driving a car or a bike. Drawbacks of the solutions in the market today are high prices, space requirements (especially for cars), no compliance with traffic regulations and laws and poor safety control (limiting the indoor application possibilities). Through cooperation with DTU and CAG we have been able to complete a full proof-of-concept and develop several of the unique mechanical components and are now in the detailing phase of the mechanical and electrical construction for a scale-up of the uMover®.
