At KiteX, we're revolutionising energy with innovative wind turbines inspired by kites. Our mission? To make wind turbines that use significantly less material, offering a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional turbines. Our journey began by envisioning wind turbines that combine the efficiency of kites and autonomy of drones. On this path we found an hybrid design with guy wire supported tower and blades could achieve almost the same material savings, but without any of the disadvantages. Our unique approach centres on patience, refining technology step by step, and focusing on sustainable solutions. We're scaling up production of the groundbreaking Wind Catcher, a portable off-grid turbine, while designing a larger, grid-connected successor. UNYA Copenhagen is a volunteer-driven youth organization dedicated to empowering young people to engage with global challenges through the lens of the United Nations’ values and the Sustainable Development Goals. We create an inclusive platform where students and young professionals can learn, collaborate, and take action on issues like climate change, social inequality, peacebuilding, and innovation. We are addressing a clear and growing problem i.e. the disconnect between youth and global institutions. Many young people in Denmark care deeply about sustainability and justice but find it difficult to access meaningful opportunities to participate in international dialogue or contribute to real-world impact. This gap leaves motivated individuals without a channel to apply their energy, creativity, and ideas, while institutions miss out on fresh perspectives and engagement from the very generation that will inherit the future. UNYA Copenhagen bridges this divide by turning global ideals into local action. We organize interactive events, workshops, and panel discussions that make complex global topics accessible and relevant. Our activities are co-created by volunteers from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds who bring their own insights to the table. Through collaboration with universities, NGOs, and public institutions, we connect youth directly with experts and decision-makers, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and agency. EIT Climate-KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Community) is Europe’s foremost climate innovation initiative. We understand that keeping global temperature rise below 1.5˚C demands unprecedented change. It requires new social dynamics, ways of doing business, capital flows, policymaking, economic models, and new ways of living. That is why our mission is to leverage the power of systems innovation to transform whole places, industries, and value chains by 2030, working across sectors to develop and scale ambitious, mission-led programmes. Established in 2010 and headquartered in Amsterdam, we orchestrate a community of more than 200 organisations including large corporations and SMEs, municipal and regional governments, universities, and research institutes, as well as non-governmental organisations and uncommon actors. Historically, we have been funded by our founder and core funder, the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), but we are currently transitioning to a multi-funder model. EIT Climate-KIC colleagues are based in one of our local offices across Europe or work remotely from home based in one of the countries where we have a branch. We meet at our local offices to exchange and connect and use online collaboration tools work with each other and with our Community. On occasion, we meet in-person as teams, and once per year as an organisation.

Ento works with organisations across Europe, including municipalities, retail chains, social housing providers, and asset and property managers. Today, more than one third of all municipalities in Denmark use our platform, alongside large retail and real estate portfolios in Italy and the UK, as well as some of Europe’s largest cities. Over 50,000 buildings run on Ento, helping customers save more than 15,000 tons of CO₂. Our team consists of 11 experienced people across 4 countries, with offices in Denmark (Aarhus and Copenhagen). We work in a hybrid setup, combining remote work with the flexibility to collaborate from the office when it makes sense. This way of working relies on trust rather than strict rules and gives people a high degree of autonomy. In return, we expect ownership, accountability, and intrinsic motivation.

UpFood is a tech startup that develops sustainable solutions to up-cycle the food, that otherwise get wasted throughout the food value chain, into different value-added food ingredients.  Besides, we will also provide our low cost and efficient technologies to smallholder farmers, producing 80%  of food in the world but facing significant food loss challenges. Our patent pending solutions address UN SDGs 1, 2, 6, 7 and 12. We envision a successful business with huge impact in the world.

EnergiTek ApS (ET) is a fast-growing start-up company based in Aarhus N, Denmark. Airlabs is an organisation with foundations in atmospheric chemistry and airflow engineering that has been established out of a desire to tackle the huge social problem of air quality in cities across the world. Our work is the result of active collaboration between our team and some of the world’s leading applied environmental research and engineering institutes. Our team brings together experts from widely varying disciplines: from atmospheric chemistry to pollution monitoring, from fluid dynamics to environmental health and from economics to engineering and design.

Real-Time LCA is a powerful platform that enables companies to understand, reduce, and document the climate impact of their building projects during design and construction. 🏘️ By automating LCA calculations, it reduces the effort required for impact assessments by 50-90%. Users can perform collaborative, efficient, and accurate Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) that comply with international standards, certification schemes, and regulations. The platform streamlines LCA processes from BIM to reporting, allowing all stakeholders to visualize, track, and document carbon emissions to meet regulations, reported through our standard templates, or leverage your sustainability data in other applications through our API. 🙌

Enabling the bioindustrial revolution with the fastest enzymes. Many of the hardest climate and environmental problems can be solved through synthetic biology. But biosolutions are held back by the enzyme efficiency bottleneck. The ENZIDIA Enzyme Engineering Platform will address this with 10^4 to 10^7 times higher efficiency than current technologies.

In the European Union alone, more than 1.5 million paint buckets are discarded daily, constituting a disposal of 340 tons of single-use plastic that is incinerated each day. Starting from early 2023 (2025 in Denmark and Slovenia), manufacturers are obligated to cover the disposal costs of their packaging based on sustainability criteria. In Denmark, this translates to an estimated 15% fee on paint buckets. Furthermore, the conventional round shape of packaging has proven suboptimal for logistics and transportation. Beyond its environmental impact, the traditional paint bucket poses challenges for professional painters. These challenges encompass ergonomic issues during handling, such as the strain of lifting two buckets simultaneously, which exceeds recommended weight limits according to the Working Environment Authority. Painters also find themselves in awkward positions when pouring paint into a roller bucket for wall application. The demanding physical nature of the painting profession in Denmark results in accelerated fatigue and early retirement for painters. Additionally, issues like lid leakage due to dried paint and the use of fragile, porous plastic contribute to unexpected spills, particularly during abrupt vehicle stops. Our innovative solution involves a cardboard box housing two patent-pending plastic bags, each containing 5 liters of paint. This packaging not only enhances the workflow for professional painters but also reduces costs and lowers carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by approximately 65% per unit. The box's design facilitates easy and ergonomic transportation, allowing for a 45% increase in units per pallet. The box is opened, and one of the bags is inserted into a standard roller bucket used by painters. The bag effortlessly opens and seamlessly fits into the roller bucket, wrapping around the edges, and enabling the painter to begin work promptly. This functionality is made possible through an innovative patented design and specific plastic welding techniques.
