Circular Innovation Lab is a research and policy think tank, based in Denmark and India, accelerating the transition to a circular economy, through its for-profit arm, Circular Innovation Lab ApS, and non-profit arm, CIL Foundation MTU. We collaborate with national governments, UN agencies, and international organisations to create circular economy solutions that drive the transition to a circular economy forward. ​We work closely with these stakeholders to help them gain a deeper understanding of the potential of a circular economy transition. Together, we develop solutions that assist them in adopting circular principles and actions. We support them in the entire process from the ideation, research, and analysis phase up to implementation and monitoring.

Our Story: Normative is rooted in climate research. In 2013, co-founder Kristian Rönn was working at Oxford University, simulating the consequences of climate change. The results showed that global warming would cause extreme human suffering, motivating Kristian to leave academia and take action. He joined forces with Adam Wamai Egesa and Robin Undall-Behrend, and in 2014 the world’s first carbon accounting engine was born to help humanity achieve net zero emissions and reverse the trajectory of climate change. We now have offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, and London, and are actively hiring talent to join the mission. Auxilium Infrastructure Partners develops, owns, and operates flexible energy assets that help stabilize the electricity grid while creating new revenue streams for industrial sites and asset owners. Rope Robotics is the developer and producer of an automatic BR-8 robot to be used as a unique repair solution for leading edges on turbine blades. Wind turbine blades need to be repaired to maintain their high performance. With manual labor turbine blades can only be repaired 20% of the time during a year due to the fact that it requires technicians to climb up with support from ropes. Using our robot to do the repair and maintenance work in the heights, we are going to expand this repair window and to improve the working environment for the technicians. We have several robot pilots in the pipeline in various places around the world and have received major funding from the EU and Danish Government.
