The challenge We are emitting 50 Gigatons of CO2 every year, and that needs to be reduced by at least 80%. However, that still leaves 10 Gigatons of CO2, and we need to get all the way to zero. KhaosGuard is developing a new generation of laser and optical technology that can measure, map and quantify greenhouse gas emissions across large areas in real time. Starting with wastewater treatment Our first focus is wastewater treatment plants, where we are helping operators detect, localise and quantify nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions — commonly known as laughing gas and a highly potent greenhouse gas. By making these emissions visible, we give wastewater operators the intelligence they need to understand what is happening across their plants, identify emission hotspots and optimise their processes for greater efficiency and lower emissions.
