Technical Co-founder & CTO — Build RabbIT Data with Us

Salary Unpaid

We’re looking for a technical co-founder and future CTO to become the third partner at RabbIT Data.

We use crowdsourcing to collect visual condition data about infrastructure, helping owners make better decisions about maintenance and replacement. Think Pokémon Go for infrastructure—with fewer imaginary creatures and more streetlights.

We have a product in use, a three-year agreement with Skanderborg Municipality and a repeat purchase. Now we’re looking for someone who can help decide what comes next and build it with us.

The role

You’ll take the lead on technology and help turn customer needs and company ambitions into sensible decisions about what to build, how and when.

You’ll have something to work with from the start: we’ve mapped our current platform and put together a draft roadmap. Your first task will be to get familiar with what we have, ask the awkward but useful questions, and help us improve the plan as we prepare for our first investment round.

You’ll help decide what we should build ourselves, where we need outside expertise and how to get the work done. We already work with an external development partner. You’ll help shape that relationship and make sure RabbIT has the knowledge and control to take responsibility for its own technology.

You’ll also get involved in development, testing and solving problems. We need someone who can look under the bonnet, understand what they’re seeing and do something about it.

Over time, you’ll help us:

  • Keep the platform reliable, secure and ready for more customers.

  • Make data collection, review and analysis work better together.

  • Use AI and automation where they actually help.

  • Build the foundations for future products, including benchmarking and predictive models.

  • Work out which technical people we need and build the team as we grow.

There’s plenty to do. We’ll agree what matters most and keep the workload realistic for the time and resources we have.

Who we’re looking for

You’ve taken responsibility for software architecture and delivery before. You can get to grips with an existing system, explain the choices involved and spot what needs fixing, simplifying or leaving alone for now.

You can build and investigate solutions yourself. You also know when to bring in someone with different expertise.

We’d like to meet someone who:

  • Thinks about what customers need and what makes sense for the business.

  • Takes initiative and can move things forward without a perfect brief.

  • Cares about data quality and results we can trust and reproduce.

  • Can lead technical work and work well with external developers.

  • Brings their own ideas and is happy to challenge ours—and have theirs challenged too.

  • Wants a say in where the company goes and takes responsibility for helping it get there.

Experience with data products, AI-assisted development or review automation would be useful. Startup experience is a plus. Curiosity, good judgement and wanting to build a company together matter a lot to us.

What we offer

You’ll join Lars and Elisabet. Our backgrounds are in the energy sector, asset management and leadership. We bring customer knowledge, commercial development and experience running the work behind the product. You’ll bring the technical perspective, and we’ll make the big decisions together.

You’ll get:

  • Meaningful equity ownership, with the details discussed directly.

  • A real say in our strategy, product and how we work together.

  • An existing product, a customer relationship and field experience to build on.

  • A platform mapping and draft roadmap that you’re welcome to question.

  • The chance to shape the technology and the future technical team.

  • Flexible working hours and location, starting at around 10 hours per week.

The hours can vary with priorities and deadlines. We’re happy to be flexible and expect the same in return, with clear agreements so everyone knows what they can count on. Some team conversations happen in the evenings as we balance other commitments.

The role is initially unpaid. Our ambition is to make a paid full-time role with a modest starting salary possible by the end of 2027, depending on funding and business progress.

We want to build something worthwhile, be straight with each other when things get difficult and have some fun along the way. There will probably be more rabbit jokes than strictly necessary.

Interested?

Send us a short introduction and your CV or relevant professional background. Tell us a little about something you’ve helped build and why becoming a co-founder appeals to you.

Let’s have a conversation.

Working at
RabbIT Data

Infrastructure owners make decisions every day about what to inspect, maintain and replace. But for assets spread across large areas, such as streetlights and cable cabinets, getting an up-to-date picture of their condition is difficult and expensive. Existing records can tell you where an asset is and how old it is. They often tell you much less about how it is actually doing. RabbIT Data helps close that gap. We turn the collection of visual condition data into guided, engaging campaigns. Through our web app, RabbIT Catch, participants find nearby assets, follow simple assessment steps and submit observations and photos. Points, challenges and small prizes give people a reason to join in and keep going. Think Pokémon Go for infrastructure, with a practical purpose. Behind the app, we validate and review observations and connect them with the owner’s existing asset data. This helps owners see patterns across their portfolio, identify assets that warrant closer attention and build a better basis for maintenance and investment decisions. Our first applications are streetlighting and electricity infrastructure. In an eight-week campaign with Skanderborg Municipality, municipal employees collected more than 4,000 registrations. The municipality has signed a three-year agreement and purchased a second campaign. Our founders bring experience from the energy sector, asset management and leadership. We have seen how much depends on decisions made with incomplete information, and how difficult it can be to collect useful condition data at scale. We believe people moving through an area every day can help make infrastructure more visible to those responsible for it. Our role is to make that contribution structured, useful and traceable. These observations complement professional inspections and help owners decide where specialist attention is needed. Today, our focus is on data collection, quality assurance and portfolio insights. Longer term, our ambition is to use the growing evidence base to support benchmarking and predictive models, helping infrastructure owners understand how assets deteriorate and plan further ahead. We are building RabbIT to help owners direct limited resources where they can make the greatest difference: keeping infrastructure safe, extending asset life and avoiding unnecessary replacement.
