Who we are

BuddyUp Social is an app for finding your social moment. We help people 18+ meet new people, join things they're curious about, and turn "we should do something" into actually showing up. Now we're adding a new layer: events hosted by BuddyUp Social itself, and we're looking for someone to bring them to life.

The role

You'll be the face and heartbeat of our own events. You dream them up, plan them, host them, and make sure everyone who walks in leaves feeling like they belong. One week it's a padel meetup, the next a walk along the lakes, a knitting circle, or a dinner party for strangers who become friends.

You'll also be our connector to the outside world: reaching out to other brands, creators and community builders to collaborate on events that are bigger, bolder and more fun.

What you'll do

Create and run a mix of BuddyUp Social events: sporty, cozy, creative, foodie and everything in between
Be a warm, welcoming host who makes newcomers feel included from the first minute
Reach out to brands, venues and other event creators to build collabs and co-hosted events
Help shape our event calendar and come up with new formats
Share ideas, moments and content from events with our team for our channels
Give us honest feedback on what people love, so we keep getting better

You might be a great fit if you

Love bringing people together and are always the one organising the plan
Are naturally friendly, curious and good at starting conversations
Are comfortable sending that first message or pitch to a brand or creator
Are organised enough to juggle logistics, and calm when things change
Are 18+ and based in or around Copenhagen
Want to build real experience in events, community building, partnerships or marketing
Have your own ideas, and the initiative to run with them

No formal experience needed. If you've ever organised a group trip, a game night or a community meetup, you already have the instincts.

Please note

This is a voluntary, unpaid position for someone who wants to gain experience and be part of something new. We're looking for roughly 3 to 6 hours a week on average, but there are no fixed shifts or set schedules. You choose when and how much you take on, around your studies, work and life, and you can step back at any time. As BuddyUp Social grows, there is a chance of future equity for the right person. This is a possibility we'd like to explore together, not a guarantee, and any terms would be agreed in writing later.

BuddyUp Social is a social discovery platform helping adults in Denmark—especially expats and newcomers—find meaningful connections through shared interests and real-life events. We’re solving the problem of adult social isolation by making it easy to create, join, and engage in hobby-based meetups, all through one intuitive app. Making friends as an adult can be surprisingly difficult. Whether you're a Dane moving to a new city or an expat starting fresh in Denmark, it’s common to feel socially disconnected. Many adults don’t know where to start when it comes to meeting new people outside of work, dating apps, or closed social circles. This problem is widespread and well-documented—especially in Denmark, where surveys consistently show that many internationals struggle with social integration, and even locals describe it as awkward to make new friends past a certain age. We’re tackling this head-on by making socializing more accessible, interest-based, and low-pressure. BuddyUp Social is designed to break down the barriers of adult friendship and create opportunities for spontaneous, real-world connection. Whether it’s joining a hike, hosting a board game night, attending a ceramics class, or finding a casual pub quiz crew, BuddyUp is all about connecting people who are "up for it"—with no pressure, no awkward messaging phase, and no algorithms getting in the way. Unlike traditional social platforms focused on digital interaction, BuddyUp is built around real-life meetups. Users can explore and join events happening near them, or create their own. Events can be public or invite-only, recurring or one-off, and are always centered around shared hobbies or interests. The app also welcomes collaborations with local businesses, allowing them to showcase open community events, bringing even more variety and accessibility to users. We’re launching in Denmark first—starting with Copenhagen and Aarhus—before expanding to similar cities across Europe. The idea behind BuddyUp was born from personal experience. As someone who returned to Denmark after years abroad, and with friends struggling to meet people after relocating, it became clear how socially challenging adulthood can be. We kept hearing the same story: “I’d love to meet new people, but I just don’t know how or where.” Instead of settling for outdated forums, clunky Facebook groups, or apps not designed for platonic connection, we decided to build a better solution ourselves. BuddyUp is more than an app—it’s a movement to make adult friendship and community-building normal, easy, and enjoyable again. We’re passionate about creating a product that helps people feel less alone and more empowered to take the first step toward new friendships. We believe that real-life connections are essential for personal happiness and social wellbeing—and we’re here to make those moments happen.
