Product Manager - Terminal & Merchant Reporting

Salary Competitive

About Flatpay

Flatpay is one of Europe's fastest-growing fintechs. Founded in Copenhagen in 2022, we've grown to 60,000+ merchants across seven markets - Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Netherlands, the UK, and Germany - and recently became Denmark's fastest-ever unicorn at a €1.5B valuation. ARR grew more than 400% last year and we're on track to more than triple it again in 2026.

We help small and medium-sized businesses get paid with a deliberately simple promise: one flat rate, no hidden fees, no subscriptions, real humans on the phone 24/7. Behind that promise is a lot of thoughtful product work - and a lot of room to build things that don't exist yet.

The role

You'll own Flatpay's merchant reporting product from day one.

Every merchant we serve has obligations they can't ignore. Filing VAT. Reporting turnover. Preparing accounts for the financial year. Answering the question their bookkeeper always asks: what did you actually sell last month, at what fees, and how do I categorise it? The rules differ in every one of our seven markets - HMRC in the UK isn't Skattestyrelsen in Denmark isn't the Finanzamt in Germany — and they keep changing. Some of what merchants need gets solved by clean integrations with tools like Dinero, Billy, e-conomic, or DATEV. Some of it doesn't, and merchants glue it together with spreadsheets and their accountant's patience.

Your mandate is to figure out, market by market, what merchants actually need - and whether we serve them best by integrating deeper, building our own, or a mix. Turnover reports. Sales breakdowns. VAT-ready exports. Financial year summaries. Whatever it takes to make the money we help them collect land cleanly in whatever comes next.

You'll define the strategy, build the partnerships, shape the roadmap, and drive it forward as the product's founding PM. You'll also become the person at Flatpay who understands how UK financial reporting rules differ from Finnish ones - and who keeps that knowledge current as the rules evolve. You won't know all of it on day one. Nobody does. What matters is that you'll be the one who gets there, with support from our country teams and the appetite to keep learning as the ground shifts.

This is an individual contributor role. You'll partner deeply with engineering, design, country teams, and the executive team, but you won't be managing PMs. Your influence comes from your thinking, your product judgment, and how well you bring people with you.

What you'll do

  • Build the strategy for Flatpay's merchant reporting product across seven markets: which regulatory needs we serve directly, which we serve through integrations, and where we build our own.

  • Become the person at Flatpay who understands VAT filing, turnover reporting, and financial year requirements in each of our markets - and who keeps that knowledge current as the rules change

  • Build the partnerships to make integrations real - with Dinero, Billy, e-conomic, Fortnox, DATEV, Xero, QuickBooks, and the local equivalents.

  • Turn strategy into a roadmap and a business case, then rally engineering, design, and the country teams around it.

  • Work directly with the high-level management, and other execs on direction, trade-offs, and pace. This is a role where you'll be in the room.

  • Partner with country teams and legal contacts to make sure what we ship holds up in every market we operate in - and stays holding up as regulations evolve.

  • Spend real time with merchants - and their bookkeepers - to understand what "the numbers were right" means in practice, and where today's manual glue costs them hours every month.

  • Pull your weight inside the PAY team: help ship terminal work when it's the highest-leverage move, cover paternity leave when it comes up, and stay dangerously close to the product that makes everything else possible.

Who you are

  • 5+ years in product management. Fintech, payments, POS, or SaaS built for SMEs is the strongest fit - but if you've built regulated, data-heavy products in an adjacent domain (accounting, HR, tax, ERP, insurance, healthcare), we'd like to talk.

  • A working understanding of how SME financial reporting and accounting actually work. You know your way around VAT filing, turnover reporting, or financial year prep for a small business - because you've built products near this space, worked adjacent to it, or lived close enough to it to have earned real intuition.

  • Genuine curiosity about regulatory differences across markets. This role means learning the reporting rules in seven countries and staying current as they change - with real support from our country teams.

  • Awareness of the SME accounting SaaS ecosystem (Dinero, Billy, e-conomic, Fortnox, DATEV, Xero, QuickBooks). Prior integration work with tools like these is a strong plus, not a requirement.

  • Zero-to-one instincts. You've defined a product area from a whiteboard, not just optimised something someone else built.

  • Serious stakeholder management chops. You can hold your ground with a CEO, translate for a CFO, and get engineers excited about a spec - often in the same afternoon.

  • Strong commercial thinking. You care about adoption, revenue, and unit economics as much as feature usage.

  • Excellent written and spoken English. Danish is a strong plus. Another Nordic language, German, French, or Italian is a bonus.

  • Willingness to spend real time with merchants across our markets.

  • Based in Copenhagen.
