Business Development Lead

Salary Competitive

We’re looking for a commercially strong profile to help develop our containerized agri logistics activities from Copenhagen.

The role is about identifying, structuring and developing customer solutions across agri commodities - using the assets, relationships and market knowledge already present across Copenhagen Merchants Group.

You’ll work at the intersection of customers, containers, rail, terminals, freight, logistics and commercial opportunity. Not as a narrow desk role, but as someone who can connect markets, people and practical solutions.

Why this role exists

Copenhagen Merchants Group has a broad platform across agri commodities, brokerage, shipping, terminals, logistics and market intelligence. We now see an opportunity to further develop our containerized agri logistics activities - with rail as an important part of the solution - by connecting customers, markets and assets in a more structured commercial setup.

That is where you come in.

We’re looking for a Business Developer to build and develop containerized agri logistics solutions from our Copenhagen office. The role is about understanding customer needs, identifying commercial opportunities and leveraging the existing CM platform to create practical, valuable solutions across markets.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across CM Group - including brokerage, shipping, terminals, logistics and digital market intelligence - and help turn existing relationships and assets into new commercial opportunities.

In short: you’ll help connect what CM already has with what the market needs next.

What you’ll be doing

Your work will include:

  • Developing containerized agri logistics activities from Copenhagen

  • Identifying customer needs and commercial opportunities across selected markets

  • Building relationships with relevant customers, partners and service providers

  • Structuring practical logistics solutions using CM’s existing network, assets and market knowledge

  • Working closely with colleagues across brokerage, shipping, terminals and logistics

  • Following market developments, customer demand and capacity opportunities

  • Preparing customer material, calculations and internal decision input

  • Helping build a scalable setup for containerized agri activities across CM Group

Who you are

You’re a commercially driven profile with experience from container logistics, agri commodities, freight forwarding, shipping, supply chain or related areas.

You understand how physical goods move across markets - and how customers, capacity, documents, timing and relationships need to come together for a solution to work.

You are not just interested in logistics as administration. You are interested in logistics as business.

We imagine you bring:

  • Experience with containerized logistics, preferably connected to agri commodities or food/feed-related products

  • Strong commercial understanding and ability to develop customer solutions

  • A solid network or strong market understanding within containers, shipping, freight forwarding or agri-supply chains

  • Ability to work across customers, internal stakeholders and external partners

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with calculations, margins and practical feasibility

  • Fluency in English; Danish or other relevant languages are an advantage

What we offer

You’ll join a new dedicated team of three people, built to develop and scale CM’s containerized agri logistics activities.

The team is new - but the experience is not. You’ll work alongside colleagues with deep CM knowledge, strong commercial understanding and many years of experience across our markets, customers and internal setup.

That gives you a rare starting point: the chance to help build something new, while standing on an existing platform of relationships, assets, market knowledge and group support.

You’ll get:

  • A central role in developing a new commercial area within CM Group

  • Close collaboration with three highly experienced CM colleagues in a dedicated team setup

  • Access to CM’s broader platform across brokerage, shipping, terminals, logistics and market intelligence

  • Real commercial responsibility and room to shape how the setup develops

  • A role close to customers, markets, assets and practical solutions

  • High trust, short decision paths and a culture where useful work matters more than corporate theatre

We’re based in Nordhavn, in an office that impresses most guests - and yes, shorts are allowed when the sun is out.

You’ll also meet T.W. Heart, our cultural ambassador and resident octopus. You don’t need to fully understand that on day one. Most of us didn’t either.

Interested?

Upload your CV and a short video introduction - max. a minute.

Tell us briefly why this role makes sense for you, and why you think you could be useful in building practical customer solutions across agri-commodities, containers, markets and assets.

No studio. No script. Just you, your motivation and a minute of our attention.

Working at
CM Navigator A/S

CM Navigator A/S – part of Copenhagen Merchants Group - is the company behind the digital platform for market intelligence and decision support in the agri-commodity and freight sectors – CM Navigator. Founded by Copenhagen Merchants Group, CM Navigator was initially developed in-house (starting around 2018) to aggregate the wealth of tacit market knowledge held by the group’s brokers and shipping experts. It was subsequently launched as a commercial SaaS platform in 2022 and later incorporated as an independent company in 2023 (while remaining majority-owned by CM Group). What it offers: CM Navigator provides real-time data and analytics tools to track commodity markets and logistics: • Live Prices & Global Benchmarks: Users get daily updated prices from major export regions (North America, South America, Europe, Black Sea, Australia, etc.) and a global CFR price matrix covering 600+ destinations, allowing easy comparison of origin competitiveness. This helps traders see, for example, how US corn fob prices plus freight compare to Brazilian corn into a given import market. • Freight Forecasting: The platform includes advanced freight tools that let users search among 250,000+ bulk freight routes with up to 12-month forward curves. This essentially functions as an instant freight rate calculator: a trader can input a specific load port and discharge port (or even a combination for multi-leg trades) and get current freight cost estimates and future rates. Such capability, drawn from Navi Merchants’ data, simplifies evaluating the delivered cost of commodities. • Supply/Demand & Trade Flows: CM Navigator continuously updates global supply and demand balances for key crops, and tracks trade flows. It integrates official data with on-the-ground insights (e.g., port line-up information) to give an up-to-date picture of export/import volumes and stock levels. This dynamic data can alert users to changes (such as a sudden surge in Ukrainian wheat exports or a drought cutting Argentine soy supply) much faster than traditional reports. • News & Insights: The platform delivers relevant news flashes and in-house analysis. For instance, it might highlight policy changes, weather events, or logistical issues affecting markets, along with commentary from CM’s analysts. Users also receive reports like grain export summaries or freight market outlooks, helping them stay ahead in volatile markets. Strategic purpose: The creation of CM Navigator reflects the group’s goal to “empower traders of all sizes in all countries” by democratizing access to high-quality market data. It takes the tacit knowledge that Copenhagen Merchants accumulated (through decades of brokerage and logistics operations) and scales it via technology. Internally, the platform ensures CM’s own teams and key clients operate with the same up-to-date information. Externally, it has become a new revenue stream and value proposition, attracting subscribers from the wider industry. By providing transparency and decision-support, CM Navigator strengthens Copenhagen Merchants Group’s role as an information broker. Its strategic goal is to be the go-to platform for anyone looking for integrated data on grains and freight, thereby enhancing market efficiency and extending the group’s influence in the digital domain.
