About Skiftr

Skiftr focuses on solving workforce redeployment caused by AI and economic downturns. When automation or a downturn reshapes an industry, millions of people are left to figure out what they can do next, and the hardest part is rarely the loss itself, but not knowing where to go.

We help people understand the skills they already have, see how those skills translate as the market shifts, and find a direction forward, including paths they'd never have considered on their own. McKinsey estimates around 12 million job transitions a year in Europe alone; helping people make those moves with confidence is one of the defining challenges of the coming decade.

We're backed by Google and EIFO. We've built and released our first product, it's landed well in the market - and now we're scaling.

To accomplish our mission, we have built entirely new data infrastructure, that is able to listen to the entire Nordic market in real time.

Why we're hiring

We've grown to the point where incoming B2C and B2B demand is outpacing what the founding team can handle. The founders are moving to focus on sales and commercial growth - and we need a CTO to take the shop.

You'll own the product and the engineering org so the people building it have a technical leader fully focused on them, while the rest of us go win the market. This is the CTO seat at arguably the most fun stage of a startup: the first product is out, the response is good, and the job now is to scale it.


What you'll own

  • You are the most senior technical person in the team.

  • You see the opportunities and challenges ahead, while solving for today

  • You help make us leaner and faster, by setting priorities and tearing down what is unneeded

  • You coach the 6 developers, and help prioritize the right profile for the right task

  • You grow both the junior and the seniors in the team, making sure they get enough autonomy and growth to make Skiftr the best place to work


The team you'll lead

You'll lead and coach a team of around 6 full-time developers, spanning juniors to seniors. A big part of the role is growing that team, mentoring the juniors, getting the best from the seniors, and shaping how the group ships. We've moved fast with a lot of autonomy. As we scale, we'll keep adopting the engineering practices whose payoff outweighs the slowdown.

  • Data & AI: a continuously-updated labour-market data pipeline feeding LLM-powered matching, scoring and generation


About you

  • Senior, hands-on engineering leader who has built and scaled production systems

  • Strong across our stack - Python/Django, Next.js, Google Cloud

  • Excited about people as much as technology

  • Pragmatic about shipping and scaling at startup speed without breaking what works

  • Genuinely wants the early-stage ride - ownership, pace, and impact over process

  • Want to contribute to a positive culture, that allow people to be at their best

  • You do not need to be a proven CTO, but you need to be comfortable in working in a start-up

  • You do not need to speak Danish, but you do need to be able to work physically from Gentofte, Denmark


Process

  • We do interview with the local team, which will be a conversation and match, as well as a technical discussion
