We’re looking for an experienced AI Engineer to help build the intelligence layer powering the future of board recruitment.

At Boardway, we’re creating specialized AI and search technology for board and advisory recruitment. Finding the right board member requires much more than matching skills to a job description. Leadership experience, industry expertise, board composition, strategic fit, and long-term company needs all influence the outcome. Generic recruiting software wasn’t built for these challenges.

You’ll build the systems that power search, matching, retrieval, enrichment, and agentic workflows across the platform. As an early member of the team, you’ll have significant influence on the product, technology, and how we apply AI to solve real customer problems.


What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and deploy production AI systems end-to-end

  • Build RAG, semantic search, retrieval, ranking, and agentic workflow capabilities

  • Develop data pipelines for enrichment, knowledge extraction, and information processing

  • Integrate LLMs and AI services into customer-facing product experiences

  • Build evaluation, monitoring, and quality measurement systems for AI applications

  • Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of AI infrastructure

  • Prototype new approaches and rapidly turn experiments into production features


What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of software engineering, AI engineering, or machine learning engineering experience

  • Strong Python development skills

  • Hands-on experience building and shipping production systems using LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search

  • Experience designing and deploying AI-powered applications such as chatbots, copilots, agents, knowledge assistants, or other LLM-based products

  • Experience building APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems

  • Strong understanding of modern AI architectures, model behavior, and evaluation techniques

  • Ability to independently own problems, make decisions, and deliver solutions

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a bias toward shipping


Nice to have

  • Experience with agent frameworks and autonomous workflows

  • Experience fine-tuning models or training domain-specific systems

  • Experience building recommendation, search, ranking, or matching systems

  • Experience with AI observability, evaluation frameworks, and quality measurement
