Founding Growth Lead

Who we are

Branded company merchandise is a multi-billion-euro market built on stuff that gets thrown away. Sugarcoat is rebuilding it from the ground up: sustainable, high-quality goods people actually want to keep - not the disposable junk that largely defines the category today.

Some of the most recognizable brands in the world already trust us to do it - Klarna, Google, and Spotify among them. We're profitable, growing fast, and founded and backed by Rainmaking, so you'll join a team of operators who've built and scaled success companies before. Our goal is to set the new standard for merch across Europe, and we're well on our way.

The role

This is not a build-from-zero job, and we won't pretend it is. We already have a working growth engine: paid media, SEO, inbound and outbound sales, and agency partners producing real revenue. What we're missing is one person who owns it end to end and makes it compound.

You'll be our first dedicated growth hire - taking a functioning-but-leaky funnel and turning it into a deliberate, measurable machine that helps us grow ~5x over the next few years. You'll report directly to the CEO, own the marketing budget, and have the autonomy to decide where it goes.

The catch you should understand before applying: this is a hands-on, individual role. You will not have a team to delegate to. You'll set up and run experiments yourself: building landing pages, wiring up tracking, launching tests, and reading the data. Agencies are available for specialist and overflow work (e.g. SEO content production, creative volume), but they are your leverage, not your engine. The core work runs through your own hands.

What you'll own

We'd rather you go deep on a few high-leverage areas than spread thin across all of them. Your core ownership:

  • Paid acquisition - strategy, execution, and budget across our paid channels, run as a continuous experimentation loop, not a set-and-forget spend.

  • Conversion & website optimization - own the path from first request to first order: landing pages, funnel friction, CRO experiments you design and ship yourself.

  • Lifecycle & retention - email and lifecycle flows that turn first orders into repeat revenue, where a lot of our margin lives.

What you'll drive in partnership

  • SEO/GEO - direct strategy and use agencies/tools for production; we want to win on both classic search and AI answer engines.

  • Sales enablement - work shoulder-to-shoulder with our sales team to arm them with the content, sequences, and signals that convert. You won't manage the sales team, but you'll be the marketing engine behind it.

What you'll be measured on:

A real scorecard, not a vibe. Concretely, you'll own targets across:

  • Blended customer acquisition efficiency (CAC / payback)

  • Qualified pipeline contributed from marketing

  • First-request to first-order conversion rate

  • Repeat / reorder rate and lifecycle revenue

"Grow 5x" is the company's goal; these are the levers you personally own to get us there.

Who you are

  • 5+ years in growth at a fast-growing company, with a track record you can point to, ideally you've owned a similar scale-up journey before and want to do it again.

  • You execute, not just direct. You can set up tracking, build a landing page, launch a paid experiment, and configure a lifecycle flow without waiting on anyone. This is the non-negotiable one.

  • Deep in at least two of: paid, CRO/web, lifecycle/email - and competent across the rest.

  • Strong with data and systems; comfortable in analytics, and ideally already running AI-enabled GTM plays rather than just reading about them.

  • B2B experience at the seam between marketing and sales.

  • Comfortable owning a budget and steering agency partners as a force multiplier.

This role is probably not for you if…

  • You're looking for your next step into people management - there's no team here, and that's by design (for now).

  • You'd rather set strategy and hand execution to others. The hands-on work is the job.

  • You want fully remote, we're an on-site team in Copenhagen and value being in the room together.

Working at
Sugarcoat

Sugarcoat® is a fast-growing startup based in Copenhagen. We firmly believe that the corporate merchandise industry is pretty broken. Almost every organization on earth brands on stuff, making it a massive industry. However, the majority of these products are cheap, pretty unusable and produced to be thrown away. We're on a mission to redefine merchandise for the better, committed to crafting high-quality, sustainable goods that people actually want to use. We're founded and backed by Rainmaking Venture Studio, why we're a part of an environment of experienced entrepreneurs from various tech companies.
