Head of People & Culture – Embankment

At Embankment, we are building something that matters — and we are scaling fast. We are now looking for an exceptional Head of People & Culture to own and elevate the entire people agenda across the company.

This is not a maintenance role. This is a high-impact leadership position at the heart of a venture-backed scale-up growing rapidly across people, geographies, and products. You will work directly with the Group CEO and the leadership teams across Commercial, Tech, Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure our people strategy becomes a true competitive advantage.

The Role

As Head of People & Culture, you will build, run, and continuously improve the full People & Culture function end-to-end — from the foundational and operational to the strategic and transformational. Yes, this includes the “boring” but critical fundamentals. And yes, it also includes the exciting, high-leverage work that shapes culture, performance, and scale.

As both architect and operator you will:

  • Own and execute Embankment’s global People strategy

  • Partner closely with senior leadership on org design, capability building, and scaling

  • Build robust people foundations (policies, compliance, processes, systems)

  • Elevate performance management and leadership development

  • Drive international hiring and talent density

  • Strengthen culture while we scale across borders

  • Ensure we remain a high-performance, low-ego environment

  • Ensure compliant employee contracts for local market with an in-depth understanding of the true cost (employer taxes, social contributions etc.) of hiring ressouce in the specific markets.

Not Your Typical Software Company

Embankment is not a traditional software business. We operate at the intersection of software and financial service, where technology enables — but people deliver — the real value. Our model depends on tight collaboration between product, commercial, and operational teams, and on building deep, trusted relationships with our customers. This reality fundamentally changes the Human Capital agenda as people become a product amplifier.

Success here is thus about:

  • Building high-performing cross-functional teams

  • Scaling international, customer-facing capabilities

  • Enabling operational excellence through people

  • Maintaining culture and cohesion across geographies

  • Supporting leaders in a complex, fast-moving environment

Why This Role Matters

We are at an inflection point. Embankment is moving from fast-moving scale-up to globally mature organization, and the People & Culture function must evolve ahead of the curve. The right Head of People & Culture will materially shape Embankment’s trajectory and directly influence:

  • How fast we can scale

  • How strong our leadership bench becomes

  • How well we integrate international teams

  • How we maintain culture under pressure

  • How effectively we attract and retain top-tier talent

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines strategic horsepower with operational excellence. You know when to zoom out strategically — and when to roll up your sleeves and execute. You likely bring:

  • Significant experience leading an HR/People or Human Capital function in a high-growth company and proven success in a venture-backed or scale-up environment is desired

  • Hands-on ability — you are not afraid to build from scratch and you are comfortable operating in ambiguity and speed

  • Deep understanding of international workforce dynamics

  • Ideally experience in operationally complex environments and preferably experience within both services companies and technology companies

  • High standards, high ownership, and low ego

  • The credibility to challenge senior leaders constructively

What You’ll Get

  • A mission-critical leadership role with real influence

  • Direct exposure to and partnership with the Group CEO

  • A venture-backed company with strong growth momentum

  • International scope and complexity

  • The opportunity to build a world-class Human Capital function from this stage

  • A high-performance environment that values substance over politics

Our Bar Is High

This is one of the most important hires we will make. We are building for the long term and intend to work with top-tier talent only. If you are excited by ownership, pace, and impact — and you have the track record to match — we would love to hear from you. Apply and help shape the future of Embankment.

Embankment

Embankment wish to change the level of services available to fund managers running alternative funds today. Our own experience in the market, is that administrative tasks is an ever-compounding burden on fund managers, that adds little to no value. The services that need to be undertaken, either inhouse or outsourced, are primarily a hygiene factor. However, not having scalable solutions to the tasks can both diminish investor satisfaction, and be an inhibiter for growth going forward. We want to ensure that fund managers have the maximum flexibility to focus on the core deliverables and value-creating actions in the fund, while having ease of mind that the administrative side is taken care of and delivered at an efficient cost. We will deliver these services through a central technology platform, within which we will integrate best of breeds solutions, to ensure that you get the service output required in the smoothest and most efficient way possible.
