Tectonicus is the game where great stories of the past come to light, while you get to uncover – and interpret – what happened. Live through the clashes of civilizations that shape the world, and write history as you play.
Tectonicus synthesizes mechanics of turn-based strategies, auto-battlers, and card games. To succeed, you are to use strategic thinking when placing heroes, commanders, and units on the board, as well as building synergic decks that emphasize each faction’s unique strengths. The forces of history come into play through History cards, affecting the units on the battlefield depending on their historical accuracy. The approach is for you to choose: destroy anachronisms or buff legendary heroes, weaken historical misconceptions, or re-interpret controversial units in your favor!
Apart from online and local PvP battles, Tectonicus will be featuring a full-scale story mode. The player will be called to restore the historical truth lost in contradicting accounts and theories, rewritten history, and scholars’ disputes, by reincarnating significant battles and living through them as warlords, across centuries. Choices between the historical interpretations will have to be made, affecting the premises of each battle and building up a unique storyline every time.
As a game developer, your primary responsibility will be to turn ideas into reality. You will be tasked with improving Tectonicus while also ensuring that any bugs are identified and fixed. Additionally, as a game programmer, you will work closely with other departments to incorporate their ideas into the game.
As you work on the job, you will have the flexibility to pick and choose the tasks that you feel confident in completing from the Trello board. You are not obligated to take on every task listed, but rather, you can prioritize and select the ones that align with your strengths and interests. We encourage you to challenge yourself and take on tasks that may be outside of your comfort zone, but ultimately, the decision is yours. Working with a multicultural team of various disciplines, working together in Unity to bring this historical card game to life. One of the best things about this job is the possibility of interacting with people of such different backgrounds; you don't always get the chance to work with a history department.
As a game developer, it is important to maintain clean code, communicate effectively with other developers, constantly seek opportunities to learn, and be proactive in finding ways to improve the game. Сoming up with clever and neat solutions to problems that might arise and collaborating with the other departments to build the game are the things that we value in our team.
Are you a student pursuing Computer Science with a focus on game development or a graduate who is eager to apply their acquired skills in a fast-paced environment? We need a team player who can collaborate with people from different fields of expertise and contribute their own knowledge. It would also be great if you had the initiative to help with collaborative projects, such as applying for funding and setting up events to showcase our game. As we are an indie game developer, having knowledge or an interest in video games would be an added advantage.
