Backend Developer – Gaming Startup in Central Copenhagen

About Us We're a small but ambitious gaming startup based in the heart of Copenhagen. Currently a tight-knit team of 3 (scaling to 5-6), we're building something exciting in the gaming space. Our studio combines creative freedom with technical excellence, and we're looking for someone who wants to be part of shaping a product from the ground up.

The Role We're seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our core team. You'll have significant influence on our technical architecture, working closely with the founders and the rest of the team to bring our game to life. Your primary focus will be building and maintaining the RESTful APIs that power our platform, with occasional contributions to internal backoffice web tooling.

What you'll do:

• Design, build and maintain performant RESTful APIs for our gaming platform

• Own backend architecture — data modelling, service design, and scalability

• Occasionally build and maintain internal backoffice web tools for the team

• Help shape the technical roadmap

• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews

Requirements

Must have:

• Strong backend development experience with RESTful API design

• Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Node.js, Python, Go, or similar)

• Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases

• Experience with authentication, authorisation, and API security best practices

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure

• Ability to work independently and take ownership

• Fluent in English (Danish is a plus, but not required)

• An AI-optimised workflow

Nice to have:

• Comfortable doing occasional frontend/web work for internal tooling

• Experience working in early-stage startups
