Game Developer (Unity) – Internship with Path to Paid Role

Salary Competitive

Skilled Unity Game Developer wanted for an early-stage internship with a clear path to a paid role. You’ll help build a open-ended game for children and take real ownership from day one.

TheMOVE is building a next-generation digital platform that turns expert-curated movement and wellbeing into a playful, open-ended game children actually choose to play.

We combine healthtech and game design, and we are now looking for a skilled and creative Unity Game Developer to join us as an intern and take real responsibility for shaping the core game experience.

This role is structured as an internship, with the clear intention of transitioning into a paid position once funding is secured. Several funding opportunities are expected to open as we reach the next development milestones.

The role

You will be part of a small tech team and work independently and hands-on on the core game experience for children aged approx. 3–12.

This is not a traditional educational game. The focus is on play, exploration, aesthetics, and game feel – with wellbeing and movement integrated naturally.

You will collaborate closely with:

  • The Founder

  • Our existing tech developers

We work with:

  • Motion capture

  • UNITY

  • Computer vision

  • Gamification & playful design

  • AI

  • Mobile apps

Responsibilities

  • Design open-ended gameplay mechanics for young children

  • Take ownership of features from idea to implementation

  • Collaborate on UX/UI to ensure a child-first experience

  • Translate abstract ideas into concrete, playable systems

  • Iterate based on feedback, testing, and expert input

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience with Unity (3D and C#)

  • Can work independently and make strong technical and creative decisions

  • Has a strong sense of game feel, interaction and aesthetics

  • Thinks in open-ended, non-linear gameplay

  • Is comfortable in an early-stage startup environment

  • Wants to build something meaningful for children

Bonus points if you

  • Have experience with animation, motion capture, or character-driven games

  • Have worked with games

  • Enjoy building something from the ground up

What we offer

  • A high-responsibility internship with real creative ownership

  • Close collaboration with a small, experienced, interdisciplinary team

  • Flexible setup (part-time or full-time)

  • Long-term upside through a warrant program

  • A clear path toward a paid role once funding is secured

TheMOVE

TheMOVE is a health-promoting digital platform that supports children’s motor and sensory development through play and technology. By combining AI, motion capture, and game-based design, we motivate children to engage in expert-designed physical activities – at home, in schools and kindergartens, or as part of therapeutic programs. The challenge is both widespread and growing. A significant number of children show signs of motor or sensory difficulties, affecting their ability to learn, regulate emotions, and participate socially. While some children receive professional support, many do not. They are often misunderstood as inattentive or unmotivated, when the real issue is a missing motor or sensory foundation. Even when children are in treatment, exercises rarely carry over into everyday life. Home programs are often based on printed instructions or verbal guidance, making it hard for families to remember, prioritise, or motivate their child. As a result, progress stalls and valuable development is lost. TheMOVE addresses this gap by turning clinical expertise into an engaging, interactive game experience. Children are guided through tailored activities supported by playful interaction, adaptive feedback, and ongoing motivation. The experience is designed to feel like play – not instruction – making it easier for children to stay engaged over time. Whether used by therapists, teachers, or families, TheMOVE bridges the gap between professional knowledge and everyday practice. It supports early intervention, improves follow-through in therapy, and gives children a more motivating path to stronger motor skills, confidence, and wellbeing – while giving adults a structured, evidence-informed way to support them.
