Full-stack Developer at Mercive

The Role

Along with a team of developers, you will be working on e-commerce projects where the tech stack varies depending on the project. Our primary focus today is Remix.js / Next.js for headless projects and Liquid, HTML, and CSS for native Shopify projects.

As a full-stack developer, you will also be responsible for building and maintaining backend services and APIs, primarily using Node.js, working with Google Cloud, and developing Shopify apps that require both frontend and backend work.

Responsibilities

• Develop projects, features, backend services, and improvements in a performant and well-tested way

• Build and maintain APIs and backend services using Node.js

• Develop Shopify apps that span both frontend and backend functionality

• Work closely with the project management team and other stakeholders (Backend, UX, etc.) to create new projects and features

• Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, security, and best practices for a high-scale web environment

• Consistently ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members

• Collaborate with the team on larger full-stack projects

• Contribute to and follow our workflow processes alongside the rest of the development team

• Advocate for improvements to project quality, performance, and scalability that have a broad impact across the team

• Solve technical problems of high scope and complexity across both frontend and backend

• Provide mentorship for Junior and Intermediate developers to help them grow and remove blockers

Qualifications

• Professional experience with Next.js, Remix.js, or another modern JavaScript framework (Vue, Angular, Ember, etc.)

• Professional experience with Node.js and building APIs or backend services

• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud

• At least 1 years of professional working experience

• Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment

• A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts

• Experience with e-commerce and Shopify is preferable (including Shopify apps)

• Experience with performance, scalability, and optimization problems—and a demonstrated ability to diagnose and prevent them

• Positive and solution-oriented mindset

• Self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organizational skills
