We are looking for our first colleagues to join Plinto, an early-stage startup in Copenhagen building an agentic AI platform for financial controlling.
Companies across the world are struggling to understand and manage cost. They live in a world of imperfect data, unstructured legal and financial documents and are often understaffed. Plinto combines bleeding edge AI technology with deep industry expertise to deliver high quality financial controlling in minutes, providing unparalleled financial oversight and helping companies understand how and why money is spent.
Co-founders Jakob Nielsen (CEO), Sebastian Rehnby (CTPO) and Nermina Ostojic (CCO) have worked together for 10+ years in Copenhagen startups (Peakon, Podio) and large enterprises (Workday).
We started Plinto with some core guiding principles:
Solving real problems: With Plinto, we don't use AI for AI's sake. We focus on solving real-world pains by combining state-of-the-art AI with deep industry knowledge.
Making great products: We believe great products win in the long run.
Building for the future: We want Plinto to be around for a long time, so we invest in the fundamentals.
Working together: We love working with passionate, product-minded people in a small team.
Understanding the market: We believe in deeply understanding the customer's pains, and the ultimate metric of success being paying customers.
As someone who would be joining our team, you value:
Innovation: You are excited about designing for emerging technologies. You see the tremendous potential in AI to solve real-world problems, and you're energised by the challenge of making complex systems feel simple and intuitive.
Learning: You love to learn new things and experiment with new tools and methods. You've already started incorporating AI tools into your design workflow and are curious about what's next.
Full ownership: You thrive when you own design end-to-end—from early research and concept exploration through to polished UI, prototyping, and collaborating closely with engineers on implementation.
Business impact: As an early stage startup, there are tons of things we could spend time on. You enjoy staying close to the business to understand where design can have the most impact.
Craft: You care deeply about the details. Typography, spacing, motion, interaction patterns—you sweat the small stuff because you know it adds up to an experience that feels right.
Our ideal candidate has experience with most or all of the following:
5+ years of experience as a software product designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work
Experience as the sole or lead designer, comfortable setting up design systems and processes from scratch
Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, variables, and prototyping
Strong foundation in interaction design, visual design, and information architecture
Experience designing complex B2B applications, ideally in fintech, enterprise software, or data-heavy products
Familiarity with design systems and the ability to build and maintain one as we grow
Understanding of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, React) to collaborate effectively with engineers. If you're comfortable making code changes yourself, even better
Experience conducting user research and translating insights into design decisions
We don't have product managers, so we own the roadmap and prioritise together. Most days you will focus on:
Shaping the product: You'll work closely with the founders to define what we build and why. From customer problems to feature concepts to final designs—you'll be driving it throughout.
Designing end-to-end experiences: You'll own the design process from research and ideation through to high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes, ensuring everything we ship meets a high bar for usability and craft.
Building our design foundation: Establish our design system, component library, and design practices that will scale as we grow. You'll set the standard for how design works at Plinto.
Collaborating with engineering: Work hand-in-hand with our engineers to ship features. You'll be in the details during implementation, ensuring the final product matches the vision.
Understanding our users: Stay close to customers through research, feedback sessions, and data analysis to ensure we're solving the right problems in the right way.
Designing for AI: Help us figure out how to design intuitive interfaces for AI-powered features—making complex, intelligent systems feel simple and trustworthy.
We primarily use Figma for design and prototyping, and our product is built on React and TypeScript. We believe in rapid iteration, continuous feedback, and shipping early to learn from real users.
If this sounds like fun and a good fit for you, we'd love to chat!
