Hi

My name is Jonathan, and I am the founder of Kihleo. I am looking for a technical co-founder who wants to build a meaningful product in the intersection between healthcare, data, and machine learning.

What Kihleo is building

Kihleo is developing an early warning system for urinary tract infections in older people with incontinence who receive care at home or in nursing homes.

UTIs are one of the most common reasons for sudden deterioration, confusion, and hospitalisation in this group. They are hard to catch early, because symptoms are vague, many people cannot clearly describe discomfort, and care staff have minimal time. Today, problems are often discovered late, after a fall, delirium, or a visit to the emergency room.

Kihleo’s idea is to move detection closer to everyday life. A small sensor is placed in the diaper and measures biomarkers in the urine every time it is used. When urination happens, the sensor collects biodata and sends the data to a server for further digital analysis. Algorithms and predictive models will turn those patterns into an early, trustworthy indication that an infection might be developing, so staff can act sooner with the usual diagnostic tools and treatments.

Hardware development is already in progress with an external partner, and I am in dialogue with municipalities about pilot projects.

The role

I am now looking for a co-founder who will lead the software and data side of Kihleo. You will be the person who shapes how we collect, store, and use data, and who builds the models that make the product valuable.

In practice, you will

  • Design and develop the backend and data pipeline for sensor data

  • define the data architecture and choose the core technologies we build on

  • build, train, and refine predictive models on real-world data

  • collaborate with the hardware partner so the end-to-end flow actually works in practice

  • help translate needs from nurses, home care staff, and municipalities into technical requirements

You do not have to know everything from day one. What matters is that you are willing to own this area and grow with it.

Who I imagine you are

You might be a student close to finishing, a recent graduate or someone with a few years of experience who wants to move into the startup world.

Some things that would fit well with the role

  • experience or strong interest in backend development and data engineering

  • curiosity about predictive models, machine learning, and possibly AI in general

  • interest in healthcare or impact-driven tech

  • enjoyment of an early-stage startup environment where things move fast, plans change, and there is a lot of uncertainty

  • Ideally, you are based in or near Copenhagen

If you have worked with sensor, time series, or health-related data before, that is a plus but not required.

What I offer

Kihleo is very early, which means two things. There is risk and uncertainty, but there is also a real chance to shape the product, the tech stack, and the company from the beginning.

You will get

  • co-founder status and the possibility of meaningful equity

  • real ownership of the software and model side

  • the chance to work closely with end users and pilot partners

  • a product with a very concrete problem to solve and a clear path to real-world impact

The exact split of equity, titles, working hours, and salary versus equity is something we will figure out together, based on your situation and how we choose to build the team.

If this sounds interesting, I would love to hear from you. Send me a message, an email, or connect on LinkedIn, and we can meet for a coffee and talk more about the idea, the roadmap, and what a co-founder role could look like for you.

Applications will be processed continuously

Working at
Kihleo

Kihleo is a medtech startup developing an early warning system for urinary tract infections in older people with incontinence receiving care at home or in nursing homes. UTIs are one of the most common reasons for acute deterioration, confusion, and hospitalisation in this group. They are challenging to detect early, because symptoms are often vague, many older people cannot clearly communicate discomfort, and home care staff and nurses have minimal time. Today, detection is primarily reactive. Staff notice that something is wrong, then order urine tests and start treatment when the infection is already well underway. This leads to unnecessary suffering, avoidable admissions, and a high use of antibiotics. Kihleo’s solution is a small sensor placed in the diaper that measures biomarkers in the urine every time the person voids. When the diaper is changed, the sensor is read, and data is sent to a secure backend. Algorithms and predictive models analyse patterns over time and provide early, trustworthy indications that an infection may be developing, days before clinical symptoms are usually recognised. The system is not a diagnostic tool. It is a decision-support and early-warning system that integrates into existing workflows and helps staff decide when to look more closely, consult a nurse or doctor, and perform standard diagnostic tests. The value is threefold. For older people, it means faster and more targeted treatment, fewer severe infections, less confusion, and a better day-to-day quality of life. For relatives and care staff, it provides reassurance, objective data, and more time for actual care rather than crisis management. For the public sector, it helps prevent avoidable hospitalisations and complications that are both expensive and resource-intensive. Kihleo is working with a hardware partner on sensor development and is already in dialogue with Danish municipalities about pilot projects. The long-term vision is to create a scalable, data-driven platform for early detection of infections and other complications in elderly care, using everyday materials like diapers as non-invasive data sources.
