Nordic Valley is a Scandinavian AI innovation hub. Our flagship product is an AI-powered Talent Matchmaking Platform, designed to connect startups and SMEs with the right tech and design talent across Europe. We're also building complementary AI tools for funding discovery, mentorship matching, and startup collaboration, all aimed at making Europe’s startup ecosystem smarter, faster, and more equitable.
As a UX/UI Student Intern, you’ll play a key role in shaping how employers and talent experience our platform — from the first user interview to polished design prototypes.
You’ll start by diving into user research, helping us uncover needs, frustrations, and opportunities on both sides of the hiring process. Then, you’ll translate insights into wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes, collaborating with our product and development teams to bring ideas to life.
This role is ideal for someone who’s both analytical and creative — someone who’s eager to learn how research and design come together in building real, human-centered AI products.
User Research (Initial Focus):
Identify and recruit B2B (employer) and B2C (talent) users for interviews and surveys.
Schedule, conduct, and analyse user interviews, synthesizing insights into actionable findings.
Design and distribute user surveys to validate assumptions and improve the product.
Document insights visually — user personas, journey maps, pain points, and research reports.
UI/UX Design (Later Stages):
Translate research insights into wireframes, low- and mid-fidelity prototypes in Figma.
Design intuitive user flows for both employers and talent.
Participate in brainstorming, ideation, and usability testing sessions.
Collaborate closely with the lead product designer, product manager, and engineering team to ensure alignment between design and development.
Contribute to building and maintaining Nordly’s emerging design system.
Currently pursuing a degree in UI/UX Design or a related field (preferably based in Denmark).
A genuine curiosity about people and how they interact with digital products.
Strong visual thinking and storytelling abilities.
Proficient in Figma and other design tools.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Passionate about and skilled in design thinking and human-centred design — from conducting qualitative and quantitative research, synthesising insights, and creating user flows, to defining personas, wireframing, user testing, and building interactive prototypes.
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote startup.
Open to ambiguity and feedback, with a low-ego, collaborative mindset.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and team-oriented.
Portfolio with UX case studies required.
Familiarity with usability testing, prototyping tools, or basic frontend principles.
Interest in AI-driven design, career platforms, or recruitment technology.
Experience working on UX case studies or coursework related to product design.
Based in Denmark or Europe, or flexible with CET hours for collaboration and interviews.
End-to-end experience in user research, UX, and product design for a real AI platform.
Learn how to turn raw insights into product-defining experiences.
Mentorship from cross-functional leads in design, product, and engineering.
The opportunity to contribute directly to a live MVP and influence its evolution.
This is an unpaid internship for 3–6 months, ideal for university students or recent graduates seeking real-world experience.
Weekly commitment: ~10–12 hours (flexible schedule).
Internship can be used for academic credit or internship approval.
Upon successful completion, there may be opportunities for extended collaboration as we grow.
